That's some pretty quick drunk-driving, Lou.

Oh, the Edens. Driving the wrong way on the Edens is a cakewalk compared to driving on the Evan. The Evans is a specially built toll road that only shows up on the maps and GPS units of Illinois toll road officials, some state representatives and Chicago Alderman. Special holographic "Highway Closed" and "Coming soon in 2004 - A new way to Chicago!" block regular drivers from accessing it. It is patrolled by 200 State police who also pick up little and polish the lane reflectors.

I really shouldn't even be mentioning it in a public forum. Hang on. There's a Illinois State Police helicopter landing outside.

That doesn't make any sense, he should've maxed out his respect meter for driving into oncoming traffic after about 5 miles.

Alcohol. The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems.

/Btw...it's Edens. We are very protective of our expressway names here.

I was going to say something along those lines...

Yes the gender can often be deduced by the type of driving idiocy displayed.

The Jane Addams (aka NW Hwy between Roselle Road and Cumberland), the Ronald Reagan (I-88) and the Adlai Stevenson (I-55).

That's all I can think of right now.

66 MPH? Unless it was rush hour traffic, that's pretty slow for Chicago.

Oh, has anybody else pointed out that it's Edens, not Evans?

Yeah, you can tell it was a male driver because he didn't hit anybody.

The SUV continued north into suburban Glencoe, where local police stopped the SUV just north of Tower Road and took the driver into custody, Stangl said.

I've driven that exact stretch of road SO many times...

Chalji: I always feel bad for out of towners trying to decipher Chicago traffic reports.

"An hour from O'Hare to the Junction on the Kennedy, Tri State backed up past the toll plaza, 2 hours from the interchange etc etc"

You get the same thing in SoCal as well. I remember being out that way years ago, and while watching the morning traffic report I had no goddamn idea what was going on, 'cause I knew the roads by their number designation but not by their names.

You know, I started out this morning in Bennyville in Wake County and went west on St. Belvelsewhere past 131 (aka Greenway Rd) and went on to hwy 241 south to hook up with the Evans. Somewhere around Glenbrook, you know, near Northbrook High not far from the old Northbrook Navel Orange Station (now skyscrapers) and got lost looking for the Evans in the fog.

I said ta Hell with it and went toward the ocean and hooked with Shannahan Rd South. Took it past Evansville and on to Seashore Drive...even past Silver City. The city looked great! I miss Raleigh!

However, he was heading in the wrong direction... He should've taken the Edens towards Chicago, merged with the Kennedy, and then switched to the Eisenhower, getting off at Central or Harlem. Alternatively, he could've gotten off at Dundee, taken Landwehr to Willow, taken the Tri-State to the Ike via the (former) Hillside Strangler and then gotten off at one of those exits I mentioned previously.

I don't understand why it's so hard for people to understand Chicago driving directions...

Of course it was a man. A woman would have been on the side of the road crying and shaking like the McElroy broad in this story.

Midnight to to 4AM is for drunks. If you aren't man enough for that, take public transportation like the other women.

Driving in the wrong direction? I've seen worse. I'll take this crazy guy any day of the week over what we have here.
