Fantastic.

The crucible of the primaries burns off any electability. The longer the burn, the purer the product.

Wow. That picture features Romney's hair not perfect. I never thought I'd see the day.

Gingrich is on his way down. The entire GOP and their commentators have moved as one to destroy him. Since there is no one to replace him, Romney will win, gaining 25 percent of the vote, to Paul's 10 percent and Other's 65 percent.

No, that's the 'rugged' look for when he wants to look like a Real American.

Yeah, but the output is going to be kryptonite to the general populace.

Has anyone else noticed that Romney has aged about 15 years in the past 3 weeks?

I can't believe it's down to these two. I'm participating in the caucuses in a few weeks here in Iowa and my first vote is not going to a flip-flopper or an adulterer.

Gingrich sees that this conflict is cancerous to his campaign and will divorce himself from the situation accordingly.

Well, you do have other options, but the media has convinced you and the rest of us that this is the best we can do. Remember, two months ago you thought that your only choice was between a flip-flopper and a pizza man.

At this point I'm leaning towards Ron Paul. I don't agree with everything the man says, but at least he is consistent, true to himself, and a known quantity. I'm no fan of Obama but he hasn't been the radical socialist/communist that some portray him to be. Once a President is elected, he is balanced by the fact that he is governing an entire nation with two other branches of government. As Obama was restrained by his position, so will Ron Paul.

Do any Fark Republicans see their vote being cast for either of these two options?

If Romney and Gingrich are too busy focusing on each other there will definitely be a chance that Santorum slips in between them.

Again, it looks like media influence in your comments. I have yet to hear of anything that President Obama has proposed that is "radical". What happened is, during the campaign, many, many ridiculous things were attributed to him and all of the legitimate proposals that Republicans and corporations didn't like were lumped in with the nonsense.

Remember, he was going to give black people reperations. He was going to start a race war. He was going to embolden black people to begin attacking whites. He was going to support radical black causes and label every white person who opposed him a racist. He was going to tell the military to lay down so that America could be taken over by radical Islam. He was going to socialize all government programs. He was going to wipe his dick on the curtains in the Lincoln bedroom...oh, and he's going to try to give you all healthcare. HE'S A RADICAL!!

The radical stuff was always BS.

Paul is a True Believer. If elected (he won't be), he would stay true to his roots and attempt to tear apart the government.

I really shouldn't be giving the other side helpful hints here (as I am a Democrat hoping Obama gets re-elected), but Huntsman is easily the most electable in the general election.

If Huntsman is the nominee, I think he has a 75% chance of beating Obama.
If Romney is the nominee, I think he has a 25% chance of beating Obama.
If anybody else is the nominee, I think he or she has a 1% chance of beating Obama.

Paul is way too radical to be elected. Deep down, he even knows this. Gingrich's personality is too poor, and his temper too volitile, to be elected. Romney comes off as a used car salesman, but his "moderate" past will help him in the general election. Huntsman sounds sane, and even though his positions are very conservative (endorcing thr Ryan tax plan, for instance), he doesn't come off as radical as his positions actually are.

Now, I may be underestimating the hatred of Mormons amoungst the general voting population, although I think that's more a GOP primary issue than a general election one.

People who have been frontrunners in the GOP nomination battle:

the crazy woman with the flaming husband
the Texan who was dumber than Dubya and whose name has a silent P
the black guy who was never elected to anything before and found pubic hairs on his Coke can
the multiple adulterer with a lizard name and sparks on the brain who was chased out of the House over a decade ago
boring Mormon dude

People who have never been frontrunners:

poo foam
RuPaulVolution
Jon Huntsman (really he's such a non-entity it's hard to make fun of him)

I would be so happy if Huntsman and poo foam could be front runners just for a bit so that the internets favorite would be completely and utterly dissed.

All of this is theater, as I've said for over a year it's gonna be boring Mormon dude.

Newt is sinking like a stone now that the Republican establishment is out taking about how toxic he was for the party in the 90's and how he hasn't improved. New Hampshire was already a stretch for him, and now Romney has the lead in Iowa in the latest Rasmussen poll. (new window)

Romney winning Iowa is still a longshot though; I predict the base will circle back around to Bachmann or Santorum when Gingrich is a lost cause, or Ron Paul (the only guy with double digit support and a ground game in Iowa) will win only to have the media try to downplay it as some sort of freak accident. I'm no Ron Paul fan (and see him having the same chances as Barry Goldwater had in the 60's once his positions are well know), but the ability of the media to ignore one of the few candidates who has a significant and loyal support base has been fascinating.

Huntsman's on the way up. It's gonna happen. I hope.

Geotpf: the hatred of Mormons

If you even scratch the surface of what Mormons believe, it's pretty scary stuff. The only thing worse is Scientology. Growing up, I thought Catholics were weird (this bread LITERALLY becomes the body of Christ), but they are fairly normal by comparison.

Well, if you really break down what almost any religion believes, it's pretty weird, from a logical stand point. (There was this dude, but he was really the invisible dude in the sky's kid, and then he let himself get strung up on a stick and die so he could become a zombie three days later? Really?) Don't go there.

tomcatadam: Not a chance in hell

Huh? Ron Paul ALWAYS gets 8 - 10 percent in the polls, no matter what happens to everyone else. If everyone dropped out of the race today, tomorrow's polls would be: Ron Paul - 9 percent Undecided: 91 percent. Conversely, if someone came up with some genetic amalgamation of Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater and Jesus Christ, tomorrow's polls would be: Rebus - 92 percent Ron Paul - 8 percent.

Right, but take ALL that, and then ADD: So the first thing he did once he turned into a zombie was to go hang out with Indians for a while, becuase they are, you know, Jews.

Sure, infinity^infinity is still just infinity, but it's a bigger infinity, as it were.

Jehova's Witnesses' authoritarian structure and use of shunning as a control mechanism creeps me out, more so than anything involving golden plates or posthumous baptism.

Even more disturbing is their belief that they can somehow scrounge up 144,000 virgins without tapping into the video game playing set.

Hahaha! Bachmann is starting to head back up in the polls. If Gingrich falls as fast as it looks like he is going to (see also: Perry, RIck and Cain, Herman), Bachmann might rocket right past Romney, if the conservatives can create a narrative about how she is the true conservative. If this happens, she'll peak right when Iowa votes.

/Lulz.

Well, since this a dick thread, would the Romney and Gingrich supporters in Iowa step up to the table and measure their premises objectively?

Romney beating off Gingrich ... it doesn't turn my crank, but there's prolly' a website or three where you could get a pic of that by now, if that's what turns your crank.
