I could understand if the test applied to their actual job - he would want a piss-down secretary of the treasury for example since that what he believes, but what would it matter if the Secretary of Defense though abortion should be legal?

and reading various books and stories about how badly the entire american reconstruction effort failed, it seems that hiring people based purely on their opinions about superficial social policies in the US leads you to hire a large number of wholly incompetants who bungle an incredibly important and expensive mission
