that actually looks kind of funny. the track and field event was hilarious, anyway.

I thought it was going to be a teaser for the Freddie Mercury biopic. I LOL'd

I thought his next film was going to be 'Herman Cain'. By far his best character.

I am guessing the funniest parts of this movie cannot be shown in even the red band trailer.

/I still think Bruno is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen and I realize I am in the minority on that

I did giggle a bit at the "What is this? A ruby? What am I? A Kardashian?" bit.

As ever, I continue to be completely stymied by Ben Kinglsey's career choices. How can the same dude who won an Oscar for "Gandhi" (and who SHOULD'VE won one for "House of Sand and Fog") turn up in stuff like "Thunderbirds," "BloodRayne," and THIS?

I mean, he's invariably the best thing about anything he's in, but come on. Name me one other actor who's taken direction from Steven Spielberg, Richard Attenborough AND Uwe Boll.

Came for something on par with the "Borat" trailer. Left disappointed.

/seriously, was anything in that really funny?

maybe he just enjoys what he does, and occasionally take roles for fun...
not like any of those movies hurt his career.

Yet another SBC Film...that just completely fails to raise even a smile.

I'm not a hard man, or a bitter man...but seriously, ever since he invented Ali G, for the 11 o Clock show, on Channel 4, I find the man about as funny as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

I love lavatorial humour, I love satire, i love pretty much every form of comedy going...but I just sat thru that trailer cold and emotionless...it didn't even make me smile.

Will someone please stop this man ever appearing on tv or film again.

Even my SBC loving friends who considered Borat a cinematic masterpiece thought Brüno was a bit pile of steaming gross out donkey poo.

Dude - that was a different planet then. Sex was fun and relatively safe - anything you caught would succumb to penicillin. Drugs were cheap. Gas was cheap.

Which it was. This looks to be a significant, albeit marginal improvement.

I know this doesn't mean much, but based on the trailer, this looks way better than Borat or Bruno.

Bruno was by far my favourite SBC character, and while the movie was not great, there were some memorable moments. Getting Paula Abdul to sit on mexicans as chairs was very very funny.

So you are completly humorous? That or you just don't like Sacha Baron Cohen. Not his humor, the guy. I personaly don't like his humor but I can at least admit the bit with Megan Fox made me chuckle a little. At least be honest with yourself.

/and us, I guess.

Why do people get so upset when they don't find something funny that others do?

Borat was hysterical. That is a scientific fact. If you hated that movie, you don't get to discuss comedy.

I greatly dislike "embarrassment comedies" so I'm not on that particularly crowded end of the Cohen bandwagon. But his dramatic work is rock solid. See for instance the currently playing in theaters "Hugo". No, seriously go see it. If any film currently in theaters deserves your dough it's that. Especially all of you people who can't see a movie thread without whinging endlessly about how there's nothing that's not a remake or sequel or LCD comedy.

Go.

I thought this was going to be based on Saddam Hussein's novel? It might end up having some common story elements, but I wish they had done a straightforward adaptation. You can't get much funnier than the fact that a murderous dictator had ghostwritten crappy propaganda romance novels

As I was watching that, I thought of how 50-70 years ago, we used to make fun of groups like blacks and Asians (especially Japanese) in ways that are now considered to be racist and offensive. That now has me wondering in 50-70 years, will the ways we now make fun of Arabs and Muslims be considered racist and offensive? Just a thought.

He might have done it to make a point. I bet there were plenty of actors offered roles in this film who turned them down because they were afraid of been seen as mocking Islam.

Interesting that it appears to be entirely scripted. I was expecting another improvised, Borat/Bruno semireality movie.

Correct this fellow is. The 2010 Census shows the racial makeup of the US to be:

72.4% White
16.3% Hispanic/Latino (of any race)
12.6% Black/African American
6.2% Other
4.8% Asian
2.9% Two or more races
0.9% American Indian and Alaska Native
0.2% Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander

in 50-70 years, the demographic data will remain pretty consistent. or do you you think that white people are going to stop reproducing and let the minorities catch up?

No but white people will have babies with non-white people and those babies will magically be 100% non-white so white people will eventually disappear even if they get replaced by a bunch of white-looking non-whites which are mostly but not 100% white and that makes them non-white.

no.

yes, interracial relationships are more common, but you simply are not going to erase a 70 percent majority.
