I've punched tougher animals in my time. I'm not saying it wouldn't give me a decent fight, but once I dragged it out of the water and started hammering it with elbow drops it would go down like the rest.

Pussy. I'd just dive in there and choke it out underwater. That's right, I'd choke out a shark.

Hmm, you know, I prefer to talk to them in a sad disappointed tone until they putter off and kill themselves to escape from the crushing guilt and shame.

I was gonna say maybe "not swimming in arctic waters around a bunch of animals barely halfway up the food chain" was a good choice if you're scared, but it sounds like this guy _wants_ to hang around feeding sharks, so I guess that's not really an option?

Pictures of the day: 13 December 2021

The last Greenland Shark is shown in 40-foot diameter tank in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is the first animal ever recorded actually trying to commit suicide.

"Aging a Greenland shark is practically impossible since it does not have vertebral growth rings as do many other species. Therefore, aging a Greenland shark would require the capture and measurement of a newborn pup followed by periodical recapture and measuring until the end of its natural life. Doing this in captivity would not reflect the natural growth rate of a shark in its natural environment, and doing this in the wild over a long period, say 200 years, would require several generations of researchers as well as an extreme range tracking system, the likes of which does not yet exist."

also: "In the summer, the shark is normally found at great depth (up to 2,200 m)"

I give up... 25 pics in and there's nothing that could eat a polar bear, unless you are speaking of hot British girls in bikinis waiting in a line, for some reason.

I followed the link, and it appears to go to a picture of a tree that fell on someone's house.

A fearsome tree! A tree which lives in at the north pole, and eats polar bears!

Still not as fearsome as honey badgers. They just don't give a shiat.

2011-12-14 09:40:12 PM
They like to pretend to be floating rocks.

The fact that they look so much like stone makes me wonder if they might not have contributed to the old North Atlantic sailor tall tale of fish so big that people would mistake them for islands and light fires on their backs, causing them to dive and drown everybody. Mind you, that myth seems to go back as far as Sinbad the Sailor or possibly all the way back to Ancient Egypt. There is a mention of such an incident in the Navigatio Sancti Brendani (The Navigation of Saint Brendan aka Brandon, Brennan, Brannen, etc.)
