Well that's my squee for the night!

Since they are descended from dog-like predecessors, I'm surprised more people don't keep them as pets. They are extremely friendly and cute, and they can be taught tricks, much like their canine cousins can.

I would've taken it out clubbing.

Cute, but if it peed anywhere inside the house, it will be uninhabitable for decades.

I found an old sno seal in my couch last week.

THIS.

I don't know if it's diet-related, but seals, for all their extreme cuteness, really smell quite horrendous. I suspect that's why people don't keep them as pets more often. Like I said though, maybe that's 'cause of their diet of fish. Perhaps if you fed them on cat food, the smell could be lessened enough that you could keep them like cats (whose smell i fairly bad, you must admit).

Cats fed raw meat diet have nearly scentless poop. I changed my cats over to raw food last year and OMG I wish I had done this years ago. I don't even know they've crapped until I clean the litter box and find the logs. They used to be able to clear the house.

Yeah - why do the people who are most anal about their furniture tend to select furnishings that show even the tiniest spot? You'd think they'd go for upholstery that would camouflage and could be easily cleaned.

What self respecting dog lets a seal nap on its couch?

KoL? hardly. pastamancer, ascended a few times. Havent played since a little after the Penguin Mafia, should fire it up again soon.

He's getting a nap in before he gets clubbed, goes clubbing. Goes clubbing.

I wonder where its mother is. They can be quite vicious when it comes to defending their pups.

2011-12-14 06:07:34 AM
All that effort - the yard, the cat door, the stairs, climbing on to the couch and then on to the micro-plush throw for extra comfort - only to be dumped back in the water. He has to be thinking, "Wait, damn it! I wanted to see White Christmas! Aw, crap."

Baby seals are damn cute.

I like my seal skin mittens. Got them in Yellowknife from a native, I'm assuming the seal was clubbed old-school. They warm my heart along with my hands.

I have a bad feeling that she's probably dead. I can't see a baby seal making such forays if he was getting fed, etc. by their mother.

Which means dumping him/her back in the ocean really isn't helping it that much.

THIS times a gabajillion gabillion million. It is also 876345334678987654 times better for your cat.

I set up a cage run from one of our windows and our cats go outside to poop in a fenced in area about 400'x400'. Litter boxes smell bad, but cats usually don't. Bonus? Even litter trained cats will poop outside if given the option, it's in their genes.

The pup was returned to the sea by a wildlife officer, but not before the intrepid adventurer got from the back of the car into the front and turned on the radio.

The seal turned on the radio? wtf kind of seal is this?!

... and then the penguin says "I was eating ice cream!"

ISTR something similar happened back in the 50s... there was even a short film about it. Apparently this seal escaped from a circus and the owner's cat tried to trap it by disguising himself as one, only the circus owners captured him instead. Then a mouse helped return the seal to its natural habitat. Pretty cute story.
