Well, right now the Texans are just holding on for dear life because of injuries, so I don't think anyone is that upset they are not getting more attention.
I did like how the Cardinals can beat the 49ers and still go down in rank.

Insert LB/DE Terrell Suggs (three sacks against Indy) into the MVP conversation.

You just told me why he shouldn't.

After facing Jacksonville on Thursday, the Falcons get 10 days to prepare for a huge game vs. the Saints. (Sando)

Yes, Monday Night... Saints at home... in prime time... before a national audience. You know how this ends, dirty birds.

I think the high end ones may cost that much, not sure. Mine only cost 50 bucks and a whole lot of shame because it has merriman's name on it

logggur: The Texans are not getting much love in the Power Rankings this year.

I'm O.K. with that. I'm so happy my team finally broke a major hurdle but I still think there's things that need to be addressed. Quite frankly, the fans around here are starting to get irritating already. Yesterday on the local 5 p.m. ESPN radio show, they were talking about making Yates the starter, getting rid of Schaub and making Wade the head coach. I was facepalming hard and thanking whatever deity out there that McNair doesn't listen to the fans. And the bandwagon fans are out in force now. The last 15 years most of them were Dallas fans.

Bunnyhat:

Well, right now the Texans are just holding on for dear life because of injuries

Also this. Maybe Yates will get better with more games under his belt but I really don't see us going much further than the first game.

Dramatic improvements on Ray Horton's defense are making the Cardinals competitive. (Sando)

Ehhhhhh.......We just ragdolled the 49ers, the second best team in the NFC, dealing them just their third loss of the season, and giving us our 5th win in 6 games, and.....we fall one spot?

we sacked the cat 5 times as i recall. yeah, we lost Kolb but on the first series. with our backup QB, we punked that ass....and we fall?

Three weeks to go, and we have four teams in, ten teams out, and eighteen fighting for the last eight spots in the five week long (remember the one bye week before the last two teams play in Super Bowl Forty-Six), twelve-team, eleven-game event we call THE MOTHERFARKING PLAYOFFS.

New to The Great Tiebreaker Spreadsheet this week is a draft order projection. Note that this is based on ESS, the Eventual Strength of Schedule, which is the current number of wins by the 16 teams on a team's schedule. Therefore even though Minnesota has had a harder schedule to date, their last three games are so much easier (ATL/CHI/WAS) than St. Louis's (SF/PIT/CIN), that they have the inside track to pass the Rams and take the #2 pick.

As always, all charts POP to full-size when clicked.

We start with the AFC game-by-game. Of note: The North swept the East 4-0. Cincinnati is locked into third, behind both Baltimore (division record) and Pittsburgh (sweep), so they can be no better than a 6 seed. The West would be a complete clusterfark if Denver weren't unbeatable right now. Well, it is anyway: KC can still win the division at 8-8.
img338.imageshack.us

The main attraction, the Big Chart. Indianapolis has clinched 16th place in the AFC (cheers and applause). Slight correction here: Tennessee should be orange; they can't win their division. Also, a broad look shows that we may not have anyone entitled to whine about missing the playoffs. Right now, there are 11 teams at 8-5 or better and all are in, plus one of the six 7-6 teams. At far right, the projected draft order, remembering that the primary tiebreaker is (eventual) SOS, followed by a coin flip if teams are from opposite conferences. Giants pick 21st because they make the playoffs.
img404.imageshack.us

And lastly the NFC game-by-game. Detroit wins a tiebreaker with Chicago at 9-7 unless the Bears' loss is this week. The East is dangerously close to going 0-8 in strength games. Neither Atlanta nor Detroit can clinch this week, both Chicago could beat either at 9-7.

rickythepenguin: we sacked the cat 5 times as i recall. yeah, we lost Kolb but on the first series. with our backup QB, we punked that ass....and we fall?

That's the problem. As a Niners fan, I can tell you that racking up "only" 5 sacks on that immobile lump of shiat we laughingly call a quarterback--behind an O-line that often resembles turnstiles more than blockers--is a subpar performance compared to a lot of other teams. Hell, even the lowly Rams sacked Smith 4 times a week ago (in a 26-0 SF victory), which combined with your boys' 5, is equal to the 9 sacks the Ravens racked up against us in a single game the previous week.

Cowboys are done. It hurts the precious to say it, but it's true. Double Dez, pressure Romo, and Jason will abandon Felix after 17 carries and Fatsos Defense will cave whatever lead they may have magically gotten at the half with his genius 'Blitz EVERYONE!' defense. So disappointing.....I miss Wade Phillips.

Christ I wish PIT had played anyone but the damn Browns. They were aching to give that game away, but then Colt McCoy remembered he's horrible. Dammit. But at least we have another reason for Ben Rapelisberger to keep talking about how tough he is! Hooray! Steelers suck.

A victory over the Chargers this weekend and I'd be shocked if we (Ravens) don't get a home game, or two. I try not to get too excited but a win this weekend makes me think we've paved the road to at least the AFC Championship game.

mitchcumstein1: Does a jersey really cost $300?

A jersey only costs that much if:

1) You want the fancy, official, close-to-actual-on-field jersey
2) You're too stupid to buy it from a Korean bootlegger on eBay. Because then they take 3 weeks to get delivered, even for custom stuff, and they look great, and they're $75 shipped.

2011-12-13 08:25:41 PM
Here's hoping my Rams are able to finish poorly enough to guarantee themselves the opportunity to draft Justin Blackmon. I mean, a decent O Line wouldn't be too bad, either, but evidently investing a lot of money at those positions doesn't seem to be working out too well for them. So if Bradford's going to have to get rid of the ball quickly, they at least need a fast receiver who can get open before Sam gets taken down.

I'd also like to petition the Jake. Carson Palmer deserves it. He has more interceptions than anyone in the NFL over the past 7 weeks. He has contributed to the tanking of the Raiders. He cost a 1st and 2nd round pick. His birthday is in December. He already earned a half Jake in his first game this season. It's always better when a Name Guy wins over a rookie or some random backup. Carson Palmer should be this week's Jake.

Also, these rankings are fine. The people complaining about Ravens being above 49ers AFTER the Ravens just beat them look kinda silly now.

Thats all great, but the jake doesn't take into account anything that has happened prior to or after the game.

The jake doesn't care how many draft picks you are worth, or how your season has gone, it only cares about one day, a very bad day that you have had.

I say ponder gets it since not only did he have a fumble (the hard part of a full Jake) but points were scored off of one of his turnovers.

If the Niners lose to the Steelers this week they positively suck. Ben is jacked up, Pouncey may not play, Harrison is suspended, Woodley still has hamstring issues... they are meat on the table for the Niners. If Pittsburgh pulls this one out I don't want to hear a peep from the Niners peanut gallery about how good they are this year.

The one thing that helps with the worry about SD is that their offensive line is bad enough that Jared Gaither is their starting LT. The guy that was a backup in KC that got cut after 1 snap - a false start.

I think T. Sizzle is plenty familiar with Softie McBackhurt. If we can get a decent pass rush against that banged up O-line, I think it's a solid win for the Ravens. If not... well I hope Cam remembers to run Rice even if we're down by 7 or 10 in the first half.

Bottom line is this is a game, more than most I think, won in the trenches. And I like our big men more than their big men.

Cinci... we'll see if they're really playing week 17, but AJ Green is a hard man to cover.
