In all seriousness, sounds like it wouldn't have mattered much in this case. Guy had the 3 grenades thrown immediately and sounds like he probably started shooting before anyone even realized much of what was happening. Maybe a quick thinking and armed citizen could have dropped the guy before he fired off too many shots but I imagine the grenades (and subsequent stampede) did most of the damage here.

The ratio is about right for a gerenade attack, they are desinged to spread fragments over a wide area. Stands to reasion that there would be alot more injured than dead. The artical does not state how many were injured by fragments and how many were injured in the panic such an attack would surely cause.

FWIW, mine was "Belgium on its way to becoming the universe's most offensive word as grenade attack leaves 75 wounded, 4 dead".

One thing I find strange is that all the witnesses interviewed in that article mention hearing the gunshots but don't mention hearing the explosions from the grenades. I've never heard a grenade explosion in real life but I've always figured it would be a damned bit louder than a gunshot. Perhaps it's just shock that the people aren't remembering it or are grenades quieter than I think?

He also had a fully-automatic FAL. The full-auto may have actually worked against him. That's not known to be a terribly controllable gun on full-auto.
