Sure. It could kill off all the dinosaurs.

Al Gore urges you to take down this link.

And buy his book.

A new study says no, no it can't.

2011-12-13 11:04:00 AM
That depends.

Do you enjoy deserts?

Wyckyd Sceptre: Sure. It could kill off all the dinosaurs.

That would be great, but I don't see how it would affect just Teabaggers.

*takes a look at economic damage estimates*

No, not really.

The real question is whether climate change even exists or not.

*troll* *snicker*

2011-12-13 12:26:10 PM
"Listen, climate change isn't happening. And if it is, we're not causing it. And if we are, we can't reverse it, so we should try. And if we could, we shouldn't, because it would be awesome if it WERE happening."

So what it really boils down to is "Fark off, we're not going to change what we're doing for any reason".

2011-12-13 12:26:49 PM
shouldn't*

2011-12-13 12:45:39 PM
You guys need to make up your mind. Is the whole thing a massive conspiracy by the vast majority of the scientific community to get grant money (and for Al Gore to sell his book) or is it real but good for us? You talk among ourselves and get your story straight and get back to us.

You farking corporate whores.

Perhaps the polluters are coming to next stage of grief and loss over the upcoming destruction of their industry.

Denial: There is no climate change
Anger: Climate change is a conspiracy
Bargaining: Ok, Climate Change does exist, and is caused by humans, but maybe we can live with it.

Next will be Depression and then finally Acceptance.

YES

If you own real estate inland you should be 100% for global warming. As the ocean rises and there is susbequently less land, you're land that is not under water will go up in value due to the laws of supply and demand.

The IPCC lists numerous positive impacts of ACC but that doesn't fit the deniers narrative so it is never mentioned.

However, it will suck really hard for the Southern US States which is delicious irony IMHO.

Well, that's an op-ed piece by the "Policy Director of the Economic Growth Program at the New America Foundation and the author of "The Next American Nation: The New Nationalism and the Fourth American Revolution." "

The most comprehensive study on the topic of economics and climate change came to very different conclusions. Hrm. I wonder who is more reliable.

solution: Start drinking heavily.

Will we be fine with it as a species? Eh, yeah, probably.

Will we be cool with it as a society? Yeeeeeeah, probably not. If it's sufficient to shift the currents you're talking about the food-producing regions of the globe and best-yield crops shifting somewhat dramatically. While the species in general will be all "ok, fine, so long as we still _have_ food and such" that's not the kind of thing that nation-states are known for weathering well-- ask Europe how stable the balance of power was during their last set of fluctuations.

Only if you are Canada, Greenland, Ice Land, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia or Alaska.

For the lower 48 states, most of Europe, China, and all the countries around the equator, not so much.

Depression: I will admit Climate Change exists, but it's too hard to change!
Acceptance: You know what? Climate Change is real and we should do something abo-what's that? All the icecaps have melted and the coast has been flooded? Well....fark.

Unfortunately, by the time it takes them to get to acceptance, we'll all be wearing environmental suits.

The human race could use a fresh start. Maybe if it killed off a random 1/3 of the population of Earth we could start making progress again and get the hell off this shiatty rock instead of killing each other over who gets to squeeze the last dollar out of the crumbling petrochemical industry.

I live in Michigan. Michigan ends up looking pretty good in all the global warming models I've seen.
