I have to agree with Subby on this one for a couple of them. Still neat regardless.

Cabela's sells a jackalope. I was going to get one for my stepfather this year, but then I remembered he has a rule about what hunting trophies hang on his walls. It has to have been taken on the property.

Why you shouldn't give lions to taxidermists who only know them from heraldry.

My mom has one of those from Cabela's!

About the article though, was the platypus in there as a control, did I miss the hybridization they did, or is the author that dumb?

couldn't find a pic of the baby-duck-whatever hybrid from American Horror Story so here's Moira instead

Thought the same thing, but then again, the platypus is nature's own hybrid.

I almost wonder if maybe he took parts from other animals to make a platypus.

The Platypus was a hybrid taxonomy of all the animals who are traditionally used to describe the features of a platypus. It's assembled from a duck and a beaver.

Just say you're good at gluing animals together and hope to make some $$$! Don't attach an agenda to your dopey (but cool looking) jackalope knockoffs.

I missed that part.

We're a long way off from squirrel crabs and the Island of Dr. Moreau (much to some furries dismay).

Looks like he took an antelope hoof, split it, maybe even shaped it a bit, then reattached the single spike at the ankle

The artist does a poor job of it. A lot of those things are really cool looking and it would be amazing if they could be made to exist.

X-Files "I Want to Believe" (it's the second movie)

I think I may be one of the few people who actually watched it. It's not great but it sure is creepy. Even the outro track gave me the heebies.

It took me a second on the platypus, but the only one that gave me creeps was squirrelcrab. That's nasty.

The rest are pretty cool imo.

The squirrel crab is ingenious, considering that it's a coconut crab body... that abomination is crazy for nuts!
