Beyblades are back again? I thought they went out of style 5 or 6 years ago.

I had fun wrecking those puny little plastic tops with one of these.

Not many people know, I had one of the first radios in Springfield. Wasn't much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A", he'd say. Then "b". "C" would usually follow...

/gettin' it out of the way
//which is the style of the times

My kid's in first grade and they're huge.

Truly a credit to marketing....

Like everything: It comes back. I was out shopping with one youngin so she could buy something for another youngin. Walking down one isle was like walking right into my childhood: a wall full of Star wars, Transformers & GI Joe.

Yeah, I remember a coworker here in Germany telling me *last year* that his son wished for Beyblades.

Beyblades were last year for my boys (6 and 9 this year). The year before was Bakugan. I don't know what this year is... one is getting a bike and the other is getting his own computer.

Garcia will defend his title when he battles "Bladers" from over 25 countries at the World Beyblade Championship in Toronto in March, 2012.

All Bladers will do is skate backwards into traffic without paying any damn attention. They're easy to battle, you just wait long enough and they get run over by a car or a cyclist.

I have a little dreidel

I made it out of clay

And when it's dry and ready

Then dreidel I shall play

CHORUS

Oh dreidel dreidel dreidel

I made it out of clay

And when it's dry and ready

Then dreidel I shall play

It has a lovely body

With legs so short and thin

And when it is so tired

It drops and then I win!

CHORUS

My dreidel's always playful

It loves to dance and spin

A happy game of dreidel

Come play now, let's begin!

CHORUS

We had these when i was a kid in the 80s. They had the plastic arean and a little wind up shooter for the tops. We would douse the whole arena and the tops in hairspray, then light it on fire and watch them fight it out as they melted.

/still cant understand why my wife doesn't want boys.

I must be even older than dirt because I have no idea what beyblades are or that there was a cartoon series. Back when I was a kid cartoons weren't marketing vehicles for toys.

But I fondly remember Wizzzers. Why don't they make those anymore? My favorite one glowed in the dark and had skull & crossbones stickers on it.

I'd love to introduce them to my cat.

Yeah, it's tops coming back and all that, but the Beyblade IP in particular has been around for over ten years, and for most of that it was fairly obscure. Why is the uptick in popularity only coming now?

We celebrate every year. For the cats. Because they're Jewish. And we light the candles, and say the prayers, and because they don't
have thumbs to spin the dreidles, we spin the cats. With catnip. They remember from year to year the routine. They love it.

married Morty (Mordecai). He's taken over the family fish business. They make a nice couple.

Any remember that other Jean Shepard movie where Ralphie got that top to fight the bully's top with? They had a hard battle that ended up with both tops spinning into a storm drain, still fighting, never to be seen again.

Y'all sound like fun! I'll bring the Barbie camper for target practice.
I used to work for the company that made Aqua Net hairspray, the stiffest and most flammable hairspray known to man. Working in South Texas in the summer with a trunk-full of Aqua-Net hairspray and nail polish remover, I was always afraid that that stuff would blow up from the heat.

the odd thing i remember about spinjas was that that little styrofoamish bit there holding the tops themselves smelled AWESOME. wasn't young enough to wanna try taking a bite out of it or anything, but i've never run into awesome-smelling styrofoam before of after. prolly poisonous or something.
