Tits for tats for toys for tots?

Not strange at all -- despite the "reputation", many tattoo artists auction off work, donate tattoos as prizes in auctions, and do things like this.

I wish I had done a screen cap of the TFer who had "Don't Fear the Wiiper" done on his arm.

The toys go to Agape (ah-GAH'-pey) Child and Family Services.

Thanks for the pronunciation guide. I've been watching too much porn recently, y'see, and would've mispronounced it in horror.

Hmm. What's the exchange rate?

That's a pretty nice sentiment and Guzman seems to be really showing what it means to be a Christian.

May God bless this good work and may it bring happiness to a lot of children this holiday season.

Well, then, he should stop being nice to kids if he's just going to steal other people's ideas to do it.

I want a sleeve made out of temporary tattoos. You know... the kind you get out of gumball machines. Hello Kitty and Spider-man... that's bad ass.

I see you already know the best part of being an atheist: no fear of eternal damnation for being an ass.

It's funny how so much public perception is still "He's a tattoo artist who's not either a rapist or a murderer?"

In pretty much any major metropolitan area, you'll find a tattoo artist doing something for charity at major points during the year.

Hell, in our town of

No clue what happened in the previous post.

At any rate, in our town of less than 30k, we have one parlor doing fundraising for March of Dimes as well as a fundraiser for someone's sick kid, and two others doing Toys for Tots stuff.

The concept that the tattoo industry as a whole is utterly devoid of human compassion is a rather annoying predjudice that's perfectly okay to have.

A shop in Oakland (Sacred Tattoo) does this too. They post up a flash sheet that you can pick from. The art usually isn't anything I'd get, but we still donate anyways. Goes to a good cause and gives us a chance to go see the piercer, who I've known for over a decade now. And from what I've seen, their artists are pretty damn good too.

Helped a friend out at a fundraiser this summer for a family that had huge medical expenses from cancer surgery and the follow-up care...

one of the biggest donors was a local dermagraphics shop... he donated well over $500 in free ink for the auction and coupons for face painting for kids to boot.

The 'national chains' and 'big box' stores in the area? They were lucky to get $10 gift cards... most couldn't be bothered, some gave a handful of 50% off with the purchase of a full priced item cards.

I've found that most of the quality body art people I know are more involved in their community than the average joe would guess... there are always exceptions, of course, YMMV...

A place in Alabama is giving, ah, "toys" for Toys for Tots (new window).

Apparently the folks at Toys for Tots do in fact have their limits on how they'll take donations.

Refreshing to get in before the rants about how everyone with tattoos have low impulse control and contribute nothing to society.

High Priestess Piercing & Tattoo in Eugene, Oregon has been doing this for several years now, but they donate the toys directly to Toys For Tots.

Clearly it's reflected in the complete lack of people with tattoos that are well crafted and/or hold jobs. Duh.

/NZ probably has the most heavily tattooed civil service in the world if my building is anything to go by
//though of course civil servants only get in the way of innovator, small business and blah blah blah
