Something in my brain tells me this might be hilarious.

"I issue a challenge to the tea party members," Beck said. "You look at his record, you read his words... see what he believes." If they do, he claimed, they would see "this man is a progressive, he knows he is a progressive." His conclusion seemed to startle even Napolitano:

"Yet this is held true by the wise of Eressëa, that all those of the Quendi [Elves] who came into the hands of Melkor, ere Utumno was broken, were put there in prison, and by slow arts of cruelty were corrupted and enslaved; and thus did Melkor breed the hideous race of the Orcs in envy and mockery of the Elves, of whom they were afterwards the bitterest foes....This it may be was the vilest deed of Melkor, and the most hateful to Ilúvatar."

Damnit if this guy doesn't abuse the term progressive like he abused a certain girl in 1990.

I say let them bring back the custom of dueling and let these 2 settle their differences in Texas Stadium. With heat seeking missiles. Live. On every media medium available.

It's hilarious how "progressive" is used as a negative by these people.

Why does anyone listen to anything this person says again?

What, Glenn, were you tired of making Nazi analogies?

Glenn's problem isn't that Newt is a "progressive," Glenn's just afraid of Callista:

shiat - anyone with half a brain would be afraid of Callista. I saw something like that heading for me in a dark alleyway I'd haul ass outta there fast, then find me enough salt to cover the doors and windows. maybe that'd keep it away till I could call in some backup to help with the disposal.

I don't know. I find it depressing and timely as, IMO, the US was ripe for a second progressive movement in the 2000's. Glenn Beck and co was influential in slowing that down.

I'm gonna be sad when the primaries are over. It's so awesome to see the cannibalism. Like this Ron Paul supporter who isn't so fond of Rick Perry:

Wow. That was supernerdy.

This tears me apart. Glenn Beck and Newt Gingrich are two of the most reputable politicians out there. But part of being a conservative means accepting ideas contrary to your own...I don't know what to say or do...

Are there any photos where she doesn't look like she's about to start running around, skipping, singing "they're coming to take me away! Ha! Ha!"? Or is that just really and truly her face?

Yes, the lord knows the last thing the United States needs is progress.

What is wrong with these people?

And I am beginning to think my joke about modern Republicans wanting to turn the US back to the 1870s is instead a horrifying truth. If TR is too progressive for them, that means they at least want to take us back to the turn of the 20th Century. WTF?

This has the potential for endless hours of mindless entertainment.

It will hark back to the joyous days of doing bong hits while watching Jerry Springer, where two fat lesbians are pulling each other's hair out in competition over the one hot Asian lesbian wearing neon-blue lycra hot pants and screaming for the other two to stop; and you just keep wondering over and over, "I don't get it. They're all lesbians. Why don't they all just get together?"

I endorse it fully.

A bit earlier than your 1870s idea. Pre-1865, and to the south of the current capitol about a hundred miles.

"So if you've got a big government progressive or a big government progressive in Obama, one in Newt Gingrich, one in Obama, ask yourself this Tea Party: Is it about Obama's race? Because that's what it appears to be to me. If you're against him but you're for this guy, it must be about race. It's the policies that matter."

This may be the least offensive thing I've heard from Beck. I have no problem with this statement.

All the outrage must be from suggesting that Republicans shouldn't make things about race.

It was only a matter of time.

The "You know who's REALLY discriminated against in this country? White, heterosexual, Christian males, that's who!" thing has gotten out of control in the last few years.

Ugh.

Yup. You have a POTUS who could have occupied the center of the Republican Party when Gingrich was speaker, and Gingrich.

What's the difference? It's as plain as the noses on their faces, isn't it?

I'm thinking not so much 19th century as dark ages. Christian theocracy, science takes a back seat to folklore, attacking intellectuals as heretics, a tiny ruling class of ultra-wealthy stepping on the rest of the populace that lives in squalor and disease. You know, paradise.
