Washington is worried other people might end up with technology that Washington doesn't want them to have?

"We are the only country to ever use a nuke in war...therefore, no other countries are allowed to have nukes"

"We are the only country with this technology to secretly spy on other countries...therefore no one else should have it"

Suuuuure, we are the only people who would use this responsibly. Trust us.

2011-12-12 05:01:47 PM
I think that the Iranians are upset that they can't torture the drone.

2011-12-12 05:10:24 PM
Iron Sheik would fark the drone in the ass and make it humble.

2011-12-12 05:13:22 PM
Out of all the iran related news lately, this is what is greenlit.

Goddamn, this is farking retarded.

Really?

2011-12-12 05:16:42 PM
Didn't they intentionally bring it down?

2011-12-12 05:38:45 PM
If they want to complain I'm sure we can drop something else

GAT_00: Didn't they intentionally bring it down?
Yes, with a "cyber attack" because they have that.

2011-12-12 06:40:08 PM
this seems relevant

GGracie: If they want to complain I'm sure we can drop something else

I'm sure you've in favor of dropping stuff on the US if we complain about other nations doing stuff as well, right?

They finally found this website?

They should just nerve staple the drone and be done with it.

/they are Believers, after all

2011-12-12 07:06:12 PM
Many Bothians died to get the plans stored in that drone.

2011-12-12 07:09:36 PM
If they want to take on the US tort system instead of our military...I say, bring it on!

To be fair, the US has a proven track record of "misplacing" sensitive devices and then asking for them back (new window).

2011-12-12 07:12:36 PM
The USA is willing to settle for 387 million, to be paid with cruise missiles.

They aren't that American yet.

Gyrfalcon: If they want to take on the US tort system instead of our military...I say, bring it on!

It would end up costing them more in legal fees than they'd make back. Even if they won and it went all the way to the SCOTUS an amendment saying they don't have to pay is likely the only thing Republicans and Democrats would agree on.

worse than usual.

Way, way worse than usual.

We don't really want our drone back. Little do they know it was purposefully tainted with teh ghey, which will subsequently spread all over Iran

2011-12-12 07:22:45 PM
It's a tiny plane with a camera in it. It's not that interesting.

2011-12-12 07:23:36 PM
They'll reverse engineer it with bondo and a Nikon Coolpix.
It'll be called ISLAMODRONE.

We might as well just surrender now.

2011-12-12 07:23:59 PM
Needed.. a picture of some hooded/masked fools raking a dull blade across the drone with a geyser of blood shooting out. Now that's a story.

Otherwise.... meh.

FU Iranian politicians. You are irrelevant.

is it possible that this drone is worthless and we just sent it in to measure their response?

ultraholland: is it possible that this drone is worthless and we just sent it in to measure their response?

Nothing we make that falls out of the sky is worthless. It's usually PRICELESS, but seldom worthless.

Six million bucks per copy of that remote controlled eye in the sky.

"She said that despite numerous "provocations" from Iran, the US would continue to pursue a "diplomatic approach"."

It takes a certain amount of chutzpah to accuse the Iranians of "provocations" after getting busted flying a spy drone over their airspace.

No self destruct? Why the hell not?

2011-12-12 07:34:28 PM
Okay, first, they shot it down. Then, they hacked it. Now, they're mad that it came down in their territory?

Am I reading this right or has the story really been the same all along?

2011-12-12 07:39:23 PM
This would be perfect for the The People's Court

If it wasn't I'm pretty sure the government would have come out and said so. I mean, I can see why Iran might fabricate something like that, but what motive would we have to go along with it?

It doesn't look damaged from fire, but then again maybe it was simply a lucky shot.

you know, after seeing the laughable farce of 'zomg chemical warfare on semi trucks' horseshiat used to get us into iraq I'm calling farkING BULshiat ON A PRISTINE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT A SCRATCH ON IT that was supposedly brought down out of flight.

2011-12-12 07:46:44 PM
It's surprising no one has brought up the possibility that it's mission WAS to be captured. I imagine the most they'd capture is a bunch of brown men banging on rocks, but what if the drone has other cameras and microphones...
