SkinnyHead: Why do they call him anti-gay? The article don't explain

"Johnson ran as a Christian conservative in his 2010 bid for governor, during which he said he was against gay marriage."

The article do explain.

2011-12-12 03:06:09 PM
Also, from the linked (new window) article:

"Johnson said publication of the story would make it difficult for him to stay in New Zealand.
"I've been trying to get my wife over here, my family over here ... so I can be around for these children," Johnson said, according to the Herald."

So, he's trying to "be around for these children" but he can't actually acknowledge them publicly? How exactly is that going to work? Was he going to try to be a creepy neighbor?

2011-12-12 03:10:49 PM
And from the other linked (new window) article:
"Johnson... said he had told his wife he wanted to act as a sperm donor. The couple had sought counselling shortly after...

Asked if his wife knew he was donating sperm, he said: "She does now."

He said she did not know of any of the pregnancies. He said he had not planned on telling her until the children were born."

There's your "sanctity of traditional marriage," SkinnyHead. Lies and secrets.

Just because someone want to preserve the traditional definition of marriage (one man and one woman) doesn't mean he's anti-gay, does it? It could just mean that he value tradition, that's all.

The suprising part of this story is that there are no pictures or reports of him patronizing a gay bar or hiring a luggage boy. Yet...

The tradition of being anti-gay?

He isn't anti gay. That is a smear. Here in california we have log cabin republicans whom by at least 50% do not believe there is such a thing as "gay marriage". This hardly makes them anti gay.

And that's why segregation isn't racist, because it's tradition.

TRADITION!

Who, day and night, must scramble for a living,
Feed a wife and children, say his daily prayers?
And who has the right, as master of the house,
To have the final word at home?

The Papa, the Papa! Tradition!
The Papa, the Papa! Tradition!

Who must know the way to make a proper home,
A quiet home, a kosher home?
Who must raise the family and run the home,
So Papa's free to read the holy books?

The Mama, the Mama! Tradition!
The Mama, the Mama! Tradition!

At three, I started Hebrew school. At ten, I learned a trade.
I hear they've picked a bride for me. I hope she's pretty.

The son, the son! Tradition!
The son, the son! Tradition!

And who does Mama teach to mend and tend and fix,
Preparing me to marry whoever Papa picks?

The daughter, the daughter! Tradition!
The daughter, the daughter! Tradition!

/I just felt like breaking into song for no reason.

Other than making sperm donations to 9 women behind his wife's back (several of whom live lifestyles he thinks are wrong), flouting fertility restrictions aimed at cutting down incest, having dinner with one of the women he impregnated, supporting a couple of them financially, planning on moving his family to New Zealand, and not planning on telling them about these news kids until they were born, what has this guy really done that's scandalous?

You libs are such hipocrits. Slick Willie had non-consensual sex with the Oval Office rug and that was just fine and dandy with you.

And as we all know, tradition has never, ever been wrong even one time in the entire history of existence. That's why we still believe the Earth is the center of the universe and have kept slavery legal.

I would describe someone who was in favor of anti-miscegenation and reversing Loving v. Virginia as "anti-black"... even though they may couch their argument in terms of "traditional marriage being between two people of the same race".
So, yes, he is anti-gay.

/plus that argument fails - "neither history nor tradition could save a law prohibiting miscegenation from constitutional attack" - Lawrence v. Texas

Well I am glad this has been brought up!

Talking about a guy running in a major party who is really anti-gay?

Not that it matters becasue he has not won the 3 or 4 times he ran (as a Democrat, which he is) either.

Oh wait.....instead lets talk about this nobody for not believing in gay marriage and pretend he is the bigger bigot.

heh

I'm shocked and appalled. Everyone knows "Anti-Gay' Xian conservative politicians are only supposed to be "donating" their sperm to young men in public washrooms. I think it's even in the RNC Freshman Guide. No excuse for this breach of protocol.

So I was kind of thinking "Hey this is unfair them attacking this guy for helping these women out" until I got to:

His wife, Kathy Johnson, said the revelations were "the utmost of betrayal."

Whoops I guess the wife didn't know. Play on!

2011-12-12 03:45:33 PM
He's not anti-gay, he just plays one to win elections.

2011-12-12 03:45:33 PM
He's giving those kids a shot at being straight!

also:

"This is a really, really difficult time for our family," Kathy Johnson said in an email to the Mobile Press-Register. "I'm still in disbelief and very hurt, and our family has a lot of healing to do."

Not sure how it's a betrayal...probably something you'd want to mention to your wife, but he's not cheating on her or anything.

2011-12-12 03:47:39 PM
If you're against gay marriage, then you're probably against having kids out of wedlock, since those are both "traditionalist" arguments. Yet by giving your sperm to gay women, you are condoning them have a kid out of wedlock- unless they are gay-married, in which case you are condoning the gay marriage by contributing to their domestic unit. So... either way, you're a hypocrite.

HotWingConspiracy: Not sure how it's a betrayal...probably something you'd want to mention to your wife, but he's not cheating on her or anything.

See above - he had mentioned this plan, his wife disagreed, and they were in counseling about it. And then he did it without telling her and wasn't going to tell her until the babies were born... if then.
That's the betrayal... not that he did it, but that knowing she didn't like the idea, he did it in secret.

SkinnyHead: Just because someone want to preserve the traditional definition of marriage (one man and one woman)

I know you're a shameless troll who for some reason gets off on being berated on this site like a Wall Street executive hiring a $10 hooker to beat him with a whip but for anyone who really believes this...

The "traditional" definition of marriage is the arranged pairing of two people who may or may not know each other in the interest of land and property exchange.

So yeah, that's far more noble than two people who happen to be of the same sex who want to have the same rights as the normals.

I can see how fathering multiple children with multiple women, despite the methodology, in secret could be considered betrayal.
