There was a thread a long time ago when they talked about Changes Coming to Fark (tm), subsection "moderation." One of those things was that the word "goatse" was no longer filtered/bannable. The other thing was allowing parody threads on TFD.

:D

Ah yes.... fond memories of a late Saturday night goatse thread I was in a few years ago that ran amok for an hour or so until it was vanished... Several folks came in who hadn't seen it. We begged them not to give in to their curiosity and that some things are best left unseen. The reactions of those who returned from the abyss were priceless.

FTA: "While much of the material from that original star was violently thrown out into space, some of it remained in an incredibly dense object called a neutron star. This particular neutron star (too faint to be seen in this image) is moving inexplicably fast: over 3 million miles per hour!"

3000000 mi. = 5.106729e-07 ly

In a vacuum light travels 671 million miles per year.

Unless I'm failing bad in calculator use, there are 8769.6 hours in a year (or 526176 minutes, or 31570560 seconds).

So that neutron star is moving 26,308,800,000 miles per year, or over 39 light years per year? Can that be right?

By the way, I'm not just retarded but I'm also half-drunk.

Which direction is that neutron star headed?

"Galactic Goatse"

...now there's a progressive rock and/or death metal band name if I ever heard one.

Light travels at 186,000 miles per second.

At 3,600 seconds per hour (60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour) that's about 670 million miles per hour, making the star speed ~0.0045 LY.

Put down the calculator and pick up another beer, as you are obviously doing both wrong.

I have seen worse than goatse. No kidding. A few years ago on craigslist someone posted a link to a video of a guy poking himself with a giant toy. Then he used a vacuum to create a flower like mound and gently shaped it. As far as I know, goatse is just pics, right?

I didn't dream this, did I?

There is a local grade school here in town where a teacher has her name hanging up on a 4x5 board inside of a giant goat-c, I shiet you not. I know I took a picture of it, and I can't find it, which means that it's on my damn phone so now I have to find the adapter cable so I can upload it. Give me a few hours, like daylight tomorrow, and if this thread still exists, I will post it for all the world to see and marvel at.

/Good night until then.

A type of supernova.

Gamma ray burst?

typically released during a supernova.

Neutron star merger?

Hey, one out of three is great if you play baseball.

Yes, sadly, this is fo' rizzle. I don't know if this was deliberate, or just one of those freak nasty coincidences that can really ruin your day when someone finally has the heart to pull you aside and whisper in your ear.
