Make fun of the TSA all you like, but I've seen the tragic consequences of a money belt exploding. Dollars flew everywhere.

torch: Dear TSA:

FAAAAARK YEEEEEW.

you know, one solution to this problem?
before a TSA agent can report to work,
1) he/she has to stand in a long line out side
2) person can pick them out of that line and require them to submit to a pat down
3) they can be arrested if they refuse
4) 1 in 10 is selected for a full cavity search behind the screen (still outside ...)

seriously
they can touch us to help make us secure?
we cant touch them to help make them secure!!

society would be such a better place

So it wasn't dissimilar from the TSA itself then?

We could use that right about now.

The perils of employing people who are programmed to follow orders rather than exercise judgment.

2011-12-12 01:18:06 PM
A sudden rash of TSA stories warms my heart this holiday travel season.

Fire them all. Putting them on the welfare rolls is a better use of tax money than keeping them employed in that agency.

Objective: Prevent another terrorist attack on airlines

Solution: Browbeat old women with medical devices

2011-12-12 01:18:29 PM
Since the item had already been removed, our officers had it X-rayed and returned it to the passenger who was then clear to travel.

Sans money.

2011-12-12 01:18:34 PM
Can anyone point to any evidence that we are more secure now than we were before the TSA? If so, is the increase in security proportional to the expense? Just curious.

I hope you are joking.

Want the rest of America to be governed the same way that TSA is? Elect a teabagger since they will blindly follow orders and question them when the situation itself calls for it.

TFA: TSA does not, and has never, conducted strip searches and no strip searches occurred in any of these incidents.

Um... bullshiat. As far as I know, the TSA does not and has never conducted cavity searches, if only because they don't think they could get away with it, but strip searches, especially of women, have been very publicly documented. Protip: that, along with the through-clothes groping you're so fond of, is one reason people hate you.

I'm a HUGE fan of "U.S. Americans" knowing their rights as citizens:

1) Social Security deduction from your paycheck is is VOLUNTARY
2) NEVER talk to the police (e.g., what are you doing parked at here?)
3) You CAN'T be forced to join a union...even in a "closed shop"

That's when I'd start screaming that they took my money belt and replaced it with a back brace.

In related news: George Lucas' THX1138 now being reviewed as roadmap for next phase of societal evolution.

The money was removed because... well, because... ummm.... Freedom? Yeah, that's it. Because Freedom, that's why!

From the TSA's website:

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1370.sh t m

"At any time during the screening process you can request a disposable paper drape for privacy."

If they're not demanding the removal of clothing (i.e., a strip search) what's the paper drape for?

Here's what happened: There was a bit of a miscommunication and our officers were told that the passenger was wearing a money belt.

Yeah, funny that. Miscommunication can happen when you just yell at passengers and never actually FARKING LISTEN TO THEM.

You should be seeing stories like this precisely never... but odds are that you'll never be molested or otherwise violated by a government agency, so it's not your problem, right?

Eh, I think they kind-of do that. I mean, it wasn't the TSA (it was Dutch airport security personnel), but when one goes to the bathroom, he will be patted down when he comes back. I've seen 'em do it.

I can't tell if this is a troll or if you are really, really dumb. You cannot opt of of Social Security. There are exemptions, if you're a priest, or if you worked for the Fed before 1984 (heh). Or you could become Amish. And nobody will hold a gun to your head to join a union (if you're lucky) but you have never worked in real life if you believe you can just walk into a closed shop and get a job. You're more out of touch with reality than the tea partiers.

Lord Dimwit: Can anyone point to any evidence that we are more secure now than we were before the TSA? If so, is the increase in security proportional to the expense? Just curious.

1. No
2. No, it's vastly disproportional. We're doing a 9/11's worth of economic damage to ourselves, every year, in an attempt to prevent anouther 9/11.

1. Yeah right, try not paying it and see what happens. BTW, you're no longer paying it anyways for the bottom part of your income.
2. Personally, I believe that making small talk with police leads to smaller headaches. Just don't admit to any crimes, thoughts of doing crime, etc... 'nice weather we're having' type stuff. Just clamming up can make you a suspect for any crimes in the area, resulting in a trip to jail and needing to pay a lawyer to straighten things out. Just more expensive all round.
3. True, but you can still be forced to pay a 'representation fee' equal to the dues to the union while not getting the representation benefits.

Dear lord that movie was awful. I'm sorry. I generally like David Lynch's work, but...you can't watch that movie after reading the book and think it was good.

(That being said, I'd watch that movie a million times before I read any of the post-Dune novels.)
