So, you lost to a team without a quarterback? That totally makes you look better.

why not? they also fielded a team without a quarterback.

As a defense, you feel pretty good at stopping a team at the 32 leaving them with a slim chance in hell to kick a 59 yard field goal to tie the game.

The 32 is a 49 yard FG. I think you meant the 42.

Whoops, yup.

I feel bad for Barber. He is a seasoned veteran who was well aware of the situation. You'd never expect him to make those two mistakes. And if Dumervil didn't knock that ball out, Barber was probably headed to the house on that run.

and if hanie hadn't thrown the ball 5 feet over his head on the previous drive, he might have broken for 6 then as well. fine line between hero and goat.

/of course the broncos stalled more than a couple of drives with dropped passes, so it goes both ways

He's right. Tebow is a RB playing QB. John Fox should get more credit for somehow making this work. The Bears D gave up 13 points. That's not a lot...unless you've lost your starting QB and RB.

And yet they still aren't mentioning the fantastic clutch kicking job done by Prater.

Kickers can save your season, but damned if they get enough credit for it.

That's what the Bears get for forgetting that Tebow isn't the entire Broncos team.

2011-12-12 02:11:01 PM
I don't even think Bears fans will appreciate that statement.

2011-12-12 02:12:59 PM
He excels when the D goes soft. There is room for him to run, and he is able to throw those little dink passes. When the D shuts down the short stuff the first 3 1/2 quarters, he can't do shiat because he doesn't have a long ball. So the way to beat Tebow is to not go prevent at the end.

/Barber running our of bounds was mind boggling...

Not so much in Denver, though.

/had to feel better about it after blocking the 20-something yard attempt earlier in the game, though

timswar: And yet they still aren't mentioning the fantastic clutch kicking job done by Prater.

Kickers are like coaches and O-Lineman - they don't matter until they f*ck up. And in fairness, the ST owed the team a FG after letting the 20-something yarder get blocked.

So he threw for 236 rushed for 49, but he's an RB?

Oh, I thought he was defending Barber, not ripping (or back-handed complimenting) Tebow.

Sour grapes. Regardless of the talent, the Broncos did last night what good teams do - they turn the other team's mistakes into opportunities.

Without the audio, it's tough to say whether he meant "he's a good running back," or "he's a good running (quarter)back.

If Timmy's going to keep this shiat up, PLEASE let him do it to the Packers in the Superbowl. I've got cheesers surrounding me who just won't shut the fark up.

hallotavagyna: I loves me another TEBOW THREAD!

Well with the lack of the NBA (which could be considered a blessing or a curse) this is now the Tebow tab.

Shame Hockey doesn't get this much attention, that is of course unless someone is rioting or some enforcer dies.

2011-12-12 02:21:14 PM
So the Bears, with 3 of the 5 best defenders in the game, just admitted to getting owned by a running back who hit 21 of his 40 passes

Good, maybe they all can join John Elway in the bar for a good crying session

you would think the bears defense would blame themselves for losing that game, giving up 13 points in what 5 minutes? you cant just play the first 55 minutes of a game.

Barber running our of bounds was mind boggling...

Even my wife, who has very little awareness of the NFL or it's intracacies, watched Barber do that and said, "Why on earth did he run out of bounds?".

Wow. Thought it was nice of Hanie to come over and try to cheer him up.

2011-12-12 02:36:01 PM
His game is still far too erratic, though there were a number of bad drops in the first half including a probable TD. The first scoring drive in the forth quarter was this:

1st and 10 at DEN 37 (Shotgun) T.Tebow pass short right to L.Ball to DEN 43 for 6 yards
2nd and 4 at DEN 43 (Shotgun) T.Tebow pass short right to L.Ball to CHI 47 for 10 yards
1st and 10 at CHI 47 (Shotgun) T.Tebow pass short middle to J.Johnson to CHI 39 for 8 yards
2nd and 2 at CHI 39 (Shotgun) T.Tebow pass short left to J.Johnson pushed ob at CHI 36 for 3 yards
1st and 10 at CHI 36 (Shotgun) T.Tebow pass deep middle to M.Willis to CHI 17 for 19 yards
1st and 10 at CHI 17 (Shotgun) T.Tebow pass short middle to D.Thomas to CHI 10 for 7 yards
2nd and 3 at CHI 10 (Shotgun) T.Tebow pass short right to D.Thomas for 10 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

The Bear defense was playing slack, but he did beat them with his arm and not his legs there. I'm not sold on the guy, but I don't think it's fair to deny he has made progress.

I give Urlacher some benefit of the doubt considering he's nearing the end of his career, and a promising mid-season turnaround for the Bears has been squashed with the injuries to Cutler and Forte. Then, of course, you lose yesterday in the spectacular fashion they did. By the time he spoke to media, I'm sure he was in some cynical "FML" phase that outweighed everything.

How much you want to bet Urlacher went to find a small, furry animal to kick in the ribs after hearing that comment?

You lose, then you talk shiat? Things do not work that way.

You would think so. But sadly no.

All these Ifs and Buts are just meaningless. It is as bad as saying "well if his receivers didn't drop X passes his numbers would be better". Drives me nuts on both sides. The teams play with the hand they are dealt. Denver has had their share of luck but they are also playing pretty good. Tebow is a part of that. All I know is they are a much more fun team to watch than they have been in a long time.

2011-12-12 02:41:55 PM
Skip Bayless just molested Steven A Smith over this....

Urlacher should have said "hes better than OUR running back"

2011-12-12 02:43:21 PM
the absolute worst thing you can do against a weak armed, poor-visioned, highly inaccurate QB playing from behind with no real legitimate (traditional) X receivers in obvious passing situations is drop into a mix of deep tampa2 and cover3. Guess what the Bears do ?
