I'm sorry, but if you're taking Ann Coulter's endorsement for President and using it as a benefit...it's time to just quit. You don't deserve to be President. And, it scares me that people don't feel the same way about that.

The GOP is the party of hateful, bigoted, greedy, and fearful idiots (it's all that's left after the few actual conservatives left). It's really no surprise that the GOP primaries have turned into a constant stream of candidates doing and saying ever more retarded, inflammatory trash in desperate efforts to stay in the limelight. The candidates are just adapting to their constituency. The real trick is figuring out when the candidates are just pandering, and when they actually believe the crap they spew.

well, now that he is in the lead, it might be newts turn to get destroyed ...
unless

Might be that the GOP will pick Newt for these reasons:
1) not a female
2) not black
3) not a mormon (although the convert to catholic thing could be a problem)
4) not batshiat crazy ron paul
5) not drooling dick perry (we can still remember 8 years of drooling bush from texas)

so that pretty much leaves Newt, right?

Ok, so Romney chides Newt for the Palestinian thing, then brings out Ann Coulter as a supporter?

It would not completely stun me if Romney finished 4th in Iowa. But then again, he has two ways to win in Iowa, either winning, or having the weakest possible opponent in a 1-on-1 win Iowa. So he has options. And you could make a very factual case that right now, if Newt doesn't win Iowa, Romney wins the nomination by the end of January.

Okay Subby that made me laugh pretty good.

The move just shows that Romney is getting desperate, and this will not help him any. Coulter has been saying that Romney was the best candidate for a while now and it hasn't made a dent in his polling, why does he think it will now? Those people he's reaching for with this already listen to the likes of Hannity where she's a guest, they also watch Fox where she's appeared and said the same thing - rehashing it at this late date won't change a thing.

The most recent polls are what's driving his desperation though because Newt has taken the lead in several more states, almost mopping up the South and the only thing Romney has going for him is the generic polls which show him as the only person leading Obama by a good margin. All others fall below him in polling but that's without debates and a campaign. Sure it's too early to tell but I think Mittens is done for, Kraken or no Kraken.

Dear conservatives that no longer associate with the GOP. We promise we won't burn your churches, force homosexuality on your heterosexual children, take away your guns, or give all your money away go drug dealers. By now you may be seeing the insanity that has infected your previous party. It was in part that insanity that tried to make you fear these things. We super serious promise that's not the case. We want poor children to get food, women to be able to start a family on their terms, make sure criminals don't have guns that can murder dozens of people at the drop of hat, allow anyone who is in love and wants to be married to anothet consenting adult to be able to, maybe cut back on the pot sentences, and cut back on having our military all over the world.

The rich can still be rich, they just need to pay their share like you pay yours and we pay ours. These talking heads are not what we Americans are about. You can either join us and we can work on these problems or you can cling on to these old fears and drown with the ship. We're more than happy to bring you along. Hell we want you along. But once things start going down, it will be too late. History isn't going to judge you well and we won't be able to save you then.

We seriously don't mind what you believe in. I can not stress that enough. You just can't go around and denying someone, ANYONE, the same rights you have as well. That is the end all bottem line rule. We are cool on pretty much everything else, you just have to calm the hell down and start being okay that people are differant. As long as they don't interfere in your rights, you have to start being okay with that. Thats the only damn way we're gonna make it through this insane humanity thing.

Well, fark. Now that Huntsman's been sidelined, it seemed that Romney was the closest thing left to a sane candidate the GOP has left. And then he does this? Seeking Ann Coulter's endorsement of all things, and with a campaign ad that says nothing about his plans or platform except for "get rid of Obama"? Dammit so much.

He has to swing right in order to secure the nomination. It's going to hurt him in the general election - he's probably going to have to disavow his association with her later - but for now he's not perceived as a strong conservative, so he has to build up his credentials.

2011-12-12 06:39:45 AM
That's so weird, I could have sworn she thought Romney would doom the Republicans..... Odd.

You know, for the most part, I can "get" Republican opinions on issues/candidates/media, etc. I obviously think it's ignorant/racist/greedy/short-sighted/wrong/laughable, etc... but I can at least get into the frame of mind where I could momentarily pretend, for personal gain, why X is a "good idea"... But the idea that Chris Christie is the Obi-Wan Kenobi of the Republican party, the only person who could stand a chance against Obama in '12... There aren't enough mind-altering substances that could allow me to figure that one out.

First of all, he's really fat... and not cute fat, he doesn't wear the fat well like some people... he's the kind of fat where you look at him and think he probably sweats walking up an escalator. And Americans are really effing shallow... You have to have supreme talent to be fat and gain approval from the mainstream, and "politics" isn't a talent. Also, he's a raging asshole... and not the "tough talker, straight shooter, tells it like it is" asshole, but the abrasive "what the hell are you looking at?" kind of asshole. And the abrasive asshole aspect makes sense why so many Republicans like him, but he's also fat and stupid.... and most of the mainstream Republicans know that they're perpetuating lies and selling a very niche angle to which they don't actually prescribe. Basically, I can sort of see why maybe some civilian Republicans would like him and support him (hell, he got elected), but the mainstream, the pundits, the proselytizers who know better... I cannot wrap my goddamn head around why they keep begging him to run.

Presidential races are about the middle, not the base. No base is large enough to sway an election these days. You can win an election without the base if you can gain enough traction with the middle... and yet, the Republican mainstream keeps pushing the Faithful further and further to the Right. Total insanity.

I love it. A loose connection with Coulter is clearly enough to demonstrate that Romney is either unqualified or crazy...

But associating with an extreme left wing terrorist who isn't the least bit sorry he attacked his own country... and a fire breathing insane preacher who hates this country only slightly more than he hates other races...

That's fine.

Let's pretend Ann Coulter is as bad as liberals think she is... And that the website they used to have dedicated to rape stories about her was somehow justified and totally not sexist at all.

Now let's pretend that Romney has a very close association with her.

That would not make him even one quarter as bad as Obama for associating with Jeremiah Wright.

I also think its funny that some of you seem to think we're going to "Pick Newt" because we're sexist or racists. The above example of liberal sexism was just one in a long string and you'll even eat your own in the form of Hillary Clinton with sexist jokes and comments. If you want to see sexism, be a woman that disagrees with a liberal.

Then there's racism, but I'm totally sure all the racist hate mail that Michelle Malkin gets doesn't come from anyone on the left, and all the cartoons and caricatures concerning Condoleezza Rice that ranged from hateful to racist never came from the left either, and even before the string of scandals concerning Herman Cain broke liberals were out to destroy him no matter what it took. If you want to see racism, be a minority that disagrees with a liberal.

She's aware of that.

The problem Romney just attached himself to, and it's a biggie, is that Coulter is one of the most dangerous creatures known to man. An attention whre who's 15 minutes are up. It was a pretty weak endorsement. She gets her name in the news (the *only* thing that matters) if she says 'that wasn't an endorsement' and goes and smooches Gingrich.

I honestly don't think Iowa really matters except for the Democrats, who use it to gauge who will best appeal to the Midwest. Republicans always give some unelectable social conservative the nod in Iowa, then go on to nominate someone else in the other primaries. For example, McCain placed 4th in Iowa and instead focused on New Hampshire and Super Tuesday.

Heh.

There was some small debate about whether to kill Admiral Yamamoto in WWII, but it was decided that he was the most effective and capable officer of his rank, and that the Japanese wouldn't be able to replace him with anyone nearly as competent.

Conversely, it could probably be said that von Stauffenberg's contribution to WWII was to fail in killing Hitler, thus shortening the war by preventing the competent military officers from taking over.
