It's eight hours of FarkTV over and over again, followed by Bowling for Food and the sitcom Best Korea.

I'm not even going to dignify this trollish headline with a response.

Community is two-thirds similar to Arrested Development because it's an internet cult hit, it's always on the chopping block, but it isn't funny.

2011-12-11 10:30:28 PM
I don't get it. We have green after green about Community getting canceled and how much better of a show it is than all other shows. Then a mere couple of days after the last episode it's suddenly worse than N Korean TV?

If Community was good, it would still be on the air......

I'm sorry, you scan the TV dial and Community stands out as the TV not worth watching?

Yes, I'm aware of the meme, but surely theres only about one billion other shows worth throwing under the bus for the sake of a fark headline.

/And if you don't find Community (or Arrested Development) to be funny, im sure a google search for gay jokes will keep you entertained until you pass into the next life

Hmmm. I really liked Arrested Development.

I hate Community. Except Ken Jeong. Any scene with him in it, regardless of the rest of the show or Movie, is comedy gold.

The best "surprise" show I've seen recently is Grimm. The spooky effects with sound/imaging are pretty good (I usually think scary movies are cheesy and stupid). Plus, it reminds me of the Witcher, but in modern times.

ComicBookGuy: What do you know, the site's dead.

Yeah I can't see it. And I'd like to, I've seen a number of bits of NorK and their weirdness never failed to amuse me.

All the newscasters speak in a ridiculously theatrical-grandiose voice like Doctor Orpheus from Venture Brothers, punctuated frequently with the highly recognizable "KIM JONG IL". Even weirder for the women announcers, who appear to be on the border of breaking out into tears, over what I'm not sure.

I never saw "Community" before that last Fark thread and have since started watching Season 1. It's over-the-top in it's sitcominess (new word!) but I've been enjoying the hell out of it. Ken Jeong is killing me, loved John Michael Higgins in episode 3, and honestly, I'm really happy to see that Chevy Chase is funny again, I thought he'd lost that ability sometime in the late 90's.

2011-12-11 10:46:27 PM
Community is all gimmick episodes and unlikable characters to me. I watch it regularly, and two or three episodes a season are phenomenal (the probability episode had 3-5 minutes that were priceless) but so many of the others feel contrived to me that I'm not surprised it struggled to find an audience.

Weird NorK Beer Commercial (new window)

These guys don't quite have the hang of capitalism.

It's kind of unlikely this is really intended for the North Korean people, AFAIK their productivity is so low that selling what they make is not a problem. More like they want to sell people the IDEA of a beer. Or selling it to foreign investors who bring in hard cash? Not sure.

But soon we won't have to worry about content from rogue republics: Joe Liebermann will get this censored right out of search engines.

definitely. Been pleasantly surprised by Grimm. Cop drama with some supernatural stuff. Fun to watch. American Horror Story's gotta be the best new show though imo. Great stuff

Clearly, you don't understand anything about defeating trolls.

I've really enjoyed the episodes of Community that I've seen. I can definitely understand why it gets compared to Arrested Development (best show ever made) a lot, although I think that has more to do with the way it's shot and slight zaniness of the characters.

I've come to the conclusion that any recent sitcom that's funny doesn't have a laugh track. Actually, with the exception of Seinfeld, I can't think of a great sitcom that had a laugh track.

/Late twenties so my timeline might be too short for a fair study

d'accord! I loved Outsourced, until the two-part wedding ...

I've lived and worked in many countries, and that show really captured what it was to be in over your head, culturally.

Really? I can't find that dude funny at all. But everyone else is hilarious! Off the top of my head, I can tell you that the notches gag, the 'That's racist!' gag, and Abed's impression of Mad Men are three great examples of top-notch comedy from Community.
