1984 just seems like long ago.

I don't remember that time. Probably because I was only a few months old at the time.

It seems like the bus swerved for no particular reason. Did they cut out part of the chase or am I missing something?

Wow... is it bad that I recognize most of the places in Detroit the chase took place... and that almost none of those locations have changed since then?

Fruit/Vegetable water went allover the roadway when the semi crashed into the old truck full of them

I've always thought the stunt coordinator probably said "hey - we could 180 a city bus!" and so they did it and just cut the footage in.

Not knowing anything about how this is done, I'd love to know how long it took them to plan it, simulate it, rehearse it, prep it, etc.

Would this ever be done this way today, or would they go straight to CGI?

Or worse, would they make sure that the continuity is shiat and intentionally confusing to help us understand just how amazingly confusing it all is (ala Bourne, James Bond...)

God I hate that crap. How many thousands of hours and millions of dollars when into researching new ways to stabilize cameras before deciding "To hell with it, we'll just get a cameraman with Parkinsons." For some dumb reason, I went and saw that alien invasion movie about LA that came out last spring, and the camera was shaking during a dialog in a flower shop. fark YOU HOLLYWOOD!!

So it's come to this. Random scenes from (almost) 20 y/o action movies are getting greenlit?

Good to know.

Was Eddie sucking trannies back in the 80s?

The patrol car lights look like lighthouses.

insipid: The patrol car lights look like lighthouses.

And none of the police are in body armor or looking para-military either.

Fake.

You could tell when the cops didn't shoot the black guy after the chase.

This was pre- Rodney King. Now they don't take any chances.

I was just under the assumption the bus driver had always wanted to try a 180, and this car chase seemed like the perfect excuse.
