Silly Subby! That's not how you spell Andrew Luck! :-D

2011-12-10 09:11:47 PM
Not so fast with the Heisman! Word is that David Stern is voiding the vote.

2011-12-10 09:24:34 PM
But "Suck For RG3" doesn't have the same ring to it... sad really.

2011-12-10 09:24:41 PM
Bullshiat win. he had one big game late in the season.

Uh, no.

I want those socks.

2011-12-10 09:37:42 PM
Wow - although I figured Luck would win, I thought that Richardson should have won it. I never saw this one coming...

2011-12-10 09:39:07 PM
I was hoping the defensive player would win. That doesn't happen enough.

Wild Eyed and Wicked: Wow - although I figured Luck would win, I thought that Richardson should have won it. I never saw this one coming...

He was the sexy candidate by having a great game playing last. Luck lost by not playing in the Pac12 Championship game

As it should be.

Wild Eyed and Wicked: I never saw this one coming

So never watched a second of Baylor this second, did you?

2011-12-10 09:42:49 PM
RG3 deserves it easily, if you ask me. Did any player carry his team almost singlehandedly like Griffin did?

Not like he didn't have the stats, 15 TDs through the air versus 3 INTs doesn't sound awesome until you factor in the 13 rushing TDs.

I was definately hoping he would get it. I thought he deserved it.

Thank god Trent Richardson didn't win it. Alabama's received enough undeserved awards for one season.

Pratty: 15 TDs through the air versus 3 INTs doesn't sound awesome until you factor in the 13 rushing TDs.

Try 6 INTs, Wilson of Wisconsin had 3 INTs.

No - I thought he was good but all the hype was on Luck so I honestly thought it was a done deal (although I will admit to watching more SEC ball so I saw Richardson more then RG3).

ESPN sure seemed like they were hoping Luck would win.

/Congrats, RG3. Waco is proud tonight!

He won when he threw that last second touchdown against Oklahoma. Luck lost ground when he got played to a standstill against Barkley, and when he didn't play well against Oregon.

SilentStrider: I was hoping the defensive player would win. That doesn't happen enough ever.

Larry Kelly and Leon Hart were both iron men and Charles Woodson won due to his kick/punt returning ability much more than his covering ability, though we won a good corner

lol, I derped and looked at the wrong year.

Ignore me, I'm too busy to do right stats unfortunately.

rather "he was a good corner"

I was happy for him He's a good kid.

Not sure if serious. He lit it up the TCU game and never looked back.

Congrats to him, he earned it.

Unlike a lot of guys who have won the award.

Woodson was also a receiver that season, though plays like Link (new window) sure did help. Still one of the most insane plays I have ever seen.

puffy999: Unlike a lot of guys who have won the award.

Given the award depends almost entirely on media exposure, hard to say anyone truly earns it.

He beat Luck in every category.

Dayum. I've never seen that play before, but that is some amazing stuff.

2011-12-10 09:55:01 PM
That's too bad. It seemed like he had a bright career ahead of him before he won the Heisman.

2011-12-10 09:57:07 PM
Im glad RGIII won. Luck was running on hype all year, and though he played well, he didnt light it up like you would have thought based on media attention. Im also glad Richardson didnt win, when there was an other finalist running back with more yard and touchdowns who helped his team win the conference, unlike Richardson.

2011-12-10 09:57:44 PM
I still think Ball was the best player this season, but RGIII is deserving as well, so you'll hear no complaints from me.

And yeah, thank God Trent Richardson didn't win it. Though it's still a shame he was ahead of Ball.

2011-12-10 09:58:21 PM
he Lucked out?

I think his acceptance speech got close to setting the cliche density record.

/would need to run the numbers to see...

Hobodeluxe: Bullshiat win. he had one big game late in the season.

bhcompy: He was the sexy candidate by having a great game playing last.

@Kansas State 23/31, 346 yards, 5 TD, 1 int
@OK ST 33/50, 425 yards, 1 TD, 2 int
OU 21/34, 479 yards, 4 TD
Texas 15/22, 320 yards, 2 TD, 1 int

This is ignoring the beating up on crappy teams.

For comparison, Trent Richardson had no rushing TDs against Arkansas, LSU, and Auburn (2 TDs combined in those games)

Celebrating with a Dr. Pepper float. :)

And -5 points for thanking Ken Starr. I realize he's Baylor's prez, but he's still Ken Starr.

2011-12-10 10:05:41 PM
I'd also like to agree that while I think Montee Ball deserved it more, I'm not going to argue with RG3. He'd be my second pick.

/4 TDs against an absolutely dominating Penn State defense
//4 TDs in the Big 10 title game, one of them receiving
///38 on the season, plus 1700+ on the ground

2011-12-10 10:07:25 PM

THIS is the proper way to celebrate.

WhyteRaven74: Given the award depends almost entirely on media exposure, hard to say anyone truly earns it.

RG3 got media exposure because he played out of his mind against his biggest opponents and made Baylor a top 15 team. Freaking Baylor.

Montee Ball is really the only other argument out there.

From Pat Forde's recent article:

---
Robert Griffin racked up big numbers, and if you think it was against a dozen cupcake secondaries you're mistaken.

The results showed that Griffin III, Richardson and Ball played against roughly equal defenses. Luck and Barkley played against slightly weaker defenses.

The average rank of the 11 FBS rushing defenses Richardson faced is 64th. The average rank of Ball's 12 FBS rushing defenses faced is 68th.

The average pass efficiency defense ranking faced by Griffin III is 65th. For Barkley, it was 72nd; for Luck, 82nd.
---

You're right, Griffin's defensive matchups were as tough as anyone. The Big 12 was strong this year. This was my argument a while back when I was debating people that were driving the Case Keenum bandwagon.

bulldg4life: Freaking Baylor.

Baylor has a way of getting in there every so often. No one should ever be surprised when Baylor does well.

First time since 1986 they finished in the top 25. What is your definition of every so often?

Andrew Luck is just going to have to console himself with larges pile of money.

2011-12-10 10:18:31 PM
So, RG3 will go on the esteemed list of QBs who won the Heisman...such great names such as Andre Ware, Gino Toretta, Jason White, Troy Smith, Eric Crouch, and Danny Wuerffel.

While Andrew Luck will retreat to the shame of those QBs who failed to win the esteemed award. Such failures as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, John Elway, Joe Montana, and Aaron Rodgers.

I took it as the Heisman curse. Please enlighten me.

I continue to be unsure of Luck's hype. I really think y'all will end up dissapointed, even if I don't think he'll turn out as a bust.

I can recall more than a few times when they've been a major pain in the backside to some teams.
