This was established in a book written in the 90s. I had a religion teacher explain it to me- apparently the Ethiopian concept of Christianity involves every church having an "Ark". This is also influenced by the weirdo Orthodox pseudo-worship of relics seen during the Byzantine empire where every church had a piece of the True Cross and John The Baptist's head. There are a couple of churches in Ethiopia that lay claim to the original version.

I think Raiders of the Lost Ark is a lot more believable with the whereabouts of the Ark than this church.

The belief in Ethiopian Orthodoxy is that Solomon slept with the Queen of Sheba (who ruled over Ethiopia) as mentioned in the Song of Songs.

They had children. One of these children brought the Ark back to Ethiopia.
It's supposedly been there ever since. But they won't show it to anyone to verify this claim. They won't show pictures or anything to anyone. .

Graham Hancock wrote a book about it some years ago, but he's not exactly a credible writer.

That said, Ethiopian Orthodoxy is rather beautiful. It's one of the older branches of Christianity, plus they were isolated from the rest of the Christian world for a very long time and even had books in their Bible that other Christian churches did not. (The Book of Jubilees, in particular.). That, and their monolithic churches are beautiful.

The Ethiopian government is split, half of them want to list it on eBay with a high reserve price. The other half wants to put it on Craig's list and save on the selling fees.
