On Black Friday, for 24 hours only - Dark Horse Digital will offer 134 single-issue Star Wars comics for $100! This sale will begin at midnight (PST), November 25th!

Timely article.

but this inflatable Dalek will transform your wee ones into monotone killing machines

I'm assuming there are Doctor Who fans under 40 across the pond?

I already had a fez, now I can buy the matching jacket?

$330? How about I just get some dvds of the old series instead

Unless I missed something, the alien facehugger is on the front page but not the article. That's some mighty fine reporting there, Lou.

It seems to me that for $2000, it should be possible to make a Vulcan lute that is actually playable.

I'm sure there are. My kid is getting a bit big for something like that, but he'd probably love that thing. That said, that whole list is crap. There's better nerd/geek gift ideas on the right hand panel of Fark than that list had. I'd rather have one of those Doctor Who or Star Trek coffee mugs, or sonic screwdrivers, or any multitude of gifts offered there.

It is, it's a family, though a lot of fans America don't seem to have got the memo, and take it way to seriously, with their biatching about Daleks and such.

The Walking Dead action figures? Seriously?

Sigh.

2011-12-10 01:11:21 PM
hmm...interesting.

y'know, I have no idea what the hell will turn up under the tree for me this year. But I did just finish the bulk of my christmas shopping yesterday, so that's good. now I just have to wait for things to get here, wrap them, and make sure they are labelled PROPERLY this year, lest we accidentally give someone the wrong gift.

An OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD guy who's seen more than his 900 years could portray hooks up with a cute young companion. So just like Twilight.

Those are the 10 major subsets? Really? I mean, if you're going to have a group for Princesses, you may as well have them for Hitchhiker's Guide...or, just as good, Discworld.

Or Anime for fark's sake. There's probably more Anime fans than there are for at least HALF of those subsets put together.

Beluga Heights: I'm going to ask the most noob question I ever have in my life: What's the premise of Doctor Who?

900 yo last of the Time Lords travels through time and space in a time machine called a Tardis with interesting and occasionally hawt companions along for the ride. They mostly go around saving the universe over and over again, usually with nobody remembering any details after the fact. The Doctor does not die in the traditional sense but regenerates into a new form, a plot device which has allowed a large number of different actors to be the Doctor without messing with the continuity of the series. Plus it plays into a million dying and reviving god myths that humanity have proven so prone to.

But mostly it's just a well written, well acted, wildly popular sci-fi-based teevee show that can be enjoyed by young and old alike. Humour plays a big part in it's continued popularity as well as a fine collection of "dusty room" moments.

Caution: Addictive.

/Thread needs more hawt companion pics.

But mostly it's just a well written (until recently), well acted (for recent high school students), wildly popular sci-fi-based teevee show that can be enjoyed by young and old alike. Humour plays a big part in it's continued popularity as well as a fine collection preponderance of "dusty room" moments.

***Messing with the continuity of the series is more than amply done by the recent bad writing.

See, here's my thinking...both base their actions around no one seeing them. The Angels, obviously, devour you, but Santa, being far more benevolent, simply leaves gifts. I think it would be interesting to see these two beings go up against each other...a whole war could be had while no one was looking.

Hm...I think that...who's showrunner now? Moffat? Davies? Either way, Weeping Angels vs Santa for a Christmas Special would be wicked cool.

Nah...a good version of Dracula, maybe something to show them that, no, not all vampires are sparkly, emo stalkers would do.
