Are Coldplay really overrated? I mean I don't know of anyone who considers them anything more than pop music. I don't really accept Grammy awards as being the mark of sophistication as I think the whole ceremony lacks credibility.

Well, this homosexual doesn't have so much as a quarter note of Coldplay's music either on my iPod or on CD. I saw them on their first American tour here in Los Angeles and wrote them off as "Radiohead without the whiny vocals". Nothing I've heard on the radio* has changed my opinion.

* Even the so-called alt rock station I listen to in the car, 98.7, plays 'em

I never hear folks proclaiming that they're big Coldplay fans yet the amount of airplay they get is just astounding. When something new from them comes out it's everywhere yet I rarely hear DJ's really go off about how great they are.

I don't "get" the appeal of them and I'm fully willing to admit that it could entirely be who I am and my own musical tastes. But I never hear of folks standing up and being fanatical about them like any other band out there.

it is easy listening garbage that doesn't offend. therefore, fans or no, it gets airplay. kind of like maroon 5. who really likes maroon 5?
