Reminds me of Tom Wilkinson's character in Michael Clayton.

Seriously, what the fark? Either they somehow rose to the level of "executive" with behavior like that... or some incredibly stressful event caused them to go nuts.

George Campbell, 45, and Paul Alexander Wilson, 38, each pleaded guilty to mischief

I'm sure "mischief" is a very serious crime in Canada, but it makes me think the judge is going to sentence them to a gentle talking-to followed by an affectionate mussing of their hair.

Yeah if I worked for RIM I'd be drunk off my ass all the time too (and learning to code for Android).

The two men were on a week-long business trip for the BlackBerry maker, but they were arrested after the flight landed in Vancouver.

Shiat guys. Did you just try to re-enact Hangover 2? You couldn't wait 6 hours to get trashed? I know I can put away some booze, but on a cross continental flight, let alone Beijing, fark it. I'll wait to get my buzz on in a couple days when my feet are on the ground. You guys had a week.

Behavior live that allowed them to rise to executives. Lets face it, there are some common personality traits among high level corporate executives. They are dicks.

Not anymore. They got a massive fine and lost their cushy jobs and I doubt anyone short of the fast food industry is going to hire them now that their names are plastered everywhere.

Now if we can just get back to getting rid of Harper, and getting the RCMP working on their image, we'd be all set.

When I was an engineer in the corporate world we had one manager who would settle technical disagreements with "I can take you." I had execs dispute my designs because "they didn't thinks should work that way," referring to the laws of nature that dictated the design. After years of having people suck up to you, you must develop a mentality where you believe you are in charge of everything, nature and society included.

It's not serious at all, it will amount to a stern lecture from the bench. The thing is that's not preferential treatment up here, everyone gets that up here. Well except for first nations folks, they get throw in jail. We recently had a 'scandal' here where prisoners on 'weekend sentences' were being told to go home because there wasn't enough space in the prison to house them for the weekend. That's right the problem isn't that they are actually allowing people to come to jail on weekends only and roam free during the week the problem is that we don't have the space to do it.

Actually I believe that weekend sentencing could be a great way to handle non-violent offenders if done correctly but still it's kind of a hilarious sentence.

You are kidding right? They are EXACTLY the sort of sociopath modern corporations are looking for. These guys are going to tripl their income.

===============

"A man who drinks too much on occasion is still the same man as he was sober. An alcoholic, a real alcoholic, is not the same man at all. You can't predict anything about him for sure except that he will be someone you never met before."
― Raymond Chandler, The Long Goodbye

What really amazes me about these type of stories is this: Not only did these asshats have jobs, but they were executives. I know so many decent, skilled, hardworking people who don't make enough money to pay the bills, or are unable to even get an interview, yet the Bozo twins were executives.

Maybe it's the other way around. The company got lucky on one product, and their moron execs were too stupid to keep the momentum going.

The requirements for becoming a corporate executive include reprehensible behavior. Nothing surprising about this.

Yup. Everyone was buying Crackberries and they thought they were all the bomb. Then iPhone and Android ate their lunch. They have tried, but they are too far behind the technology curve now.

It takes serious determination to remain a frat boy 20+ years after college.

I see an opportunity for profit here. In the US, there are dozens of privately run jails that are mostly empty because they're in small towns where there aren't enough criminals to fill them. I'm not sure why we're not shipping the prisoners from our own overcrowded prisons there, but hey, Canadians will do in a pinch.

My guess is somebody's relative got them the job, and my guess is this wasen't their first public outburst, and they finally had enough and let them go.

With their attitude, they can always get a job in politics. They'd fit right in.
