Pizza deliveries are closely tied to pot smoking subby, get a clue. If they get rid of the posters the slow drivers will be easy to catch.

Wow, flying pizzas? Are we in the future?

Bout time. The guy who does pizza flyers round here literally can cover a large apt complex of 400+ within 30 minutes. By the time you notice the faint sound of someone touching your door, he's already posted the flyer on yours, the ones around you and is out of the general area.

Subby seems slow....

controversy? seriously? as far as i know, hotels are privately owned businesses, and if the owners don't want solicitors on their property, the cops better farking arrest those dudes.

Dear subby: pizzas get delivered, fliers get distributed.

2011-12-09 10:07:22 PM
We have a problem with these companies here in San Diego. Many are "fly by night" type operations where they do not have an actual restaurant. They do not follow health codes nor are they inspected. Most are cash only so they do not pay taxes on most of their money. And like in the article says some aren't even a business and are just scammers. It's not like they are tossing a Papa John's driver in the clink.

Reviews for the "Roma Pizza" mentioned in the article. I can see why the hotels don't want them around.

Instead of feeding the homeless, subby is too busy posting to Fark.

All of the hotels on I-Drive have wanted to arrest people for posting fake flyers. Those hotel rooms get robbed more often than Mitt changes his mind. In most cases, even the flyers are fake.

Do you realize that some people actually give out credit card numbers over the phone? Imagine how well that works out.

2011-12-09 10:21:16 PM
Yes, they are linked to crime.
Fliers are put on all the doors in an apartment complex during the day.
At night, they come back and see which doors still have the fliers on them.
No flier = Someone came home and threw it away
Flier = No one has opened that door

I don't understand why people think that no police officer should ever spend any time doing anything except solving murders. I'm sure if there were a murder in progress, the guy investigating this trespassing would probably drop what he was doing and come back to it after the more pressing business at hand.

I don't care for fliers. Sometimes people walk right into my entryway and tape them to my front door with gunky tape that leaves a residue. Moreover, I just don't like people prowling around my house unsolicited. If you want to send me something, mail it. The post office needs money.

Murderers you can kill. If you try to kill me, I can kill you and tell the whole world "I done for him with my knife." and no jury in Florida will convict you, even if you probably shouldn't have cut out his heart and eaten his strength.I don't WANT the police to catch murderers. I WANT to catch murderers.

But those farking flyers always raping your mailbox? Man, I'd like an amendment to the Constitution "And all Citizens shall have the right to pelt with nightsoil any deliverer of unwanted solicitation from businesses."

If it was really a free country, and you put shiat on my property I should get to put shiat on you in return. Telemarkerters put shiat in my ear. QED someone hold him down ear up, I had tacos last night. and it's time he had a Mexican Headset.

I am currently spending my second night in a Miami hotel and have already had no less than 5 pizza fliers slipped under my door, so maybe these folks are on to something.

2011-12-09 10:52:35 PM
When we were in florida, our hotel explicitly warned us about fraudulent pizza companies and posted a warning on the door telling us that under no circumstances are pizza delivery men to be let in the building, or we would be evicted on the spot. If we absolutely had to ignore their warning and order pizza delivered antway, we had to go out and meet them on the corner of the block.

They will. The petty crook handing out the flyers doesn't get to tell the cop who he should be arresting.

Unfortunately they should also be arresting whoever is paying these petty crooks, but that's not likely to happen.

FTA:Ask law enforcement, and its members say those passing out the handbills - many of whom have criminal or drug histories - are unwelcome solicitors at best, and a menace to tourism at worst.

Officers say the pizza-flier men have been linked to crime, including burglaries and credit-card fraud.

You know if they stopped spending there time arresting people for passing out fliers, smoking pot, and not being white, they might actually have time to patrol for the burglars and investigate the credit card frauds, but you know that would be more work and they'd have to stay up really late,

I wish I could catch whomever it is that keeps leaving flyers on our door for a particular pizza chain. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind since I can just throw them in the garbage, but the flyers our apartment complex have been getting are for one that doesn't deliver to our part of town.

As much as it is a dick move to the maintenance people, I've noticed at apartments that throwing the fliers on the ground in the parking lot works pretty well to make it stop(many residents need to catch onto the idea). The management gets fed up with the eyesore and it stops pretty quick once they start threatening the business in question.

Talking to apartment management rarely accomplishes as much and just gets one labeled as a troublemaker.

Nah, I don't want to do anything to these guys. Most of these folks are contracted to pass out the flyers and don't necessarily work for any of the pizza places. I'd just like to ask them which particular pizza store (some are individual franchises) hired them so I could call that store and ask them why they're giving us flyers, yet they don't deliver to our area. It's more a curiousity thing on my part than anything else.

Bathia_Mapes, isn't the number of the pizza place on the flyer?

I for one would like to see all spammers- flyers, chuggers, junk mailers and email spammers- thrown in jail. Or drowned in paper. If I want something I will find it. If you rub it in my face you can get farked...

About time. Last time we stayed on I-drive, someone banged on our hotel room door at 11pm. By the time we dressed and checked the door, nobody there, but a flyer for a fake pizza place was left. Note that this is a hotel with keycard access to that floor; we felt ever so safe for the rest of our visit.

In some hotels that can be defeated by taking the elevator to a public space on a higher floor and walking down stairs to get onto the secured floors. I can think of a pretty damn nice hotel in Austin that this would have worked at a few years ago. (To clarify: I was staying on the secured floor, and realized I didn't need my keycard to get back to my room.)
