I don't care how cynical and snarky this place gets. Anyone who isn't thoroughly bummed out that a friendly neighborhood rabbit that brought happiness to kids and families got run over is simply not a good person. Period.

Goodnight, bunnyman.

We all want some bunny to love, don't you need some bunny to love, don't you want some bunny to love, but it's hard to find some bunny to love.

I have bigger problems than a random dead rabbit. I'm sorry Maxx, but I can't spare any emotion right now.

he wouldn't have been skwushed.

I really wish I hadn't clicked that link.
I didn't think the headline could possibly be what I'd read.

That is just one of the saddest things I have ever read.

Uh, yeah, maybe don't let your rabbit play in the street?

A nanny pushed a baby down the street every day to coo.

Oh sure, I push a baby down the stairs, Child Protective Services visits me.

Holy crap, that was depressing. Thanks Subby for making my "Awwww!" turn to a "AHHHH!"

Poor bunny.

It's a great symbol of the world we live in.

No matter how precious, free, happy, or downright awesome something is - some asshole in a hurry will take it away from everyone...

Yes, fence around your yard but let the kids know they can come in and play with it if they want. Walk it around on a leash (yes you can get leashes for rabbits) for it to socialize. It's a fat rabbit with no fear of humans, of course the thing is going to loiter in the street.

I warned you in the headline that he dies "in agony, terrified and alone," wtf did you expect? A happy ending?

Yep, wow, what a silver lining to that story: our neighbor wouldn't keep his rabbit up, so it got run over by a car. At least it brought us all together! Ah, how they can reminisce years from now. "Hey, you remember that year of the bunny when we all became better neighbors after an adorable animal died because one of us thought the farker was impervious to vehicles?" "Yeah, that was great!"

Totally worth a dead animal.

The moral to this story is, if your neighbor's pet gets out constantly and you like the pet, capture it and find it a good home and someone who actually gives a damn.

Bunnies make everything better and their passing is a moment of great sorrow. I only hope that the driver of the car which killed the bunny is remorseful.

If not then I hope he/she gets cancer.

Heartbreaking story, but just to nitpick...

"They wrapped the bunny in a towel to get her to the vet, but before they could leave, she sucked her last breath."

Not exactly dying alone.

So, sad, but... speeding car? Because someone came around the corner? Isn't it dangerous and foolish to swerve for small animals (and illegal?)

"Outside Bunny" would have been shot while robbing Old Farmer Mcgillicuddy's garden around here. If it's a pet, contain it. If it's an outside bunny, it's toast. If the gardener knew it belonged to somebody it might get one chance via a phone call to the owner, "get your damned rabbit out of my garden before I shoot it". Second time might be a call saying, "come get your dead rabbit", but probably not.

Don't veer for deer. No idea what you could come up with for rabbits.

Oh God, this. At our previous house there was a nest of bunnies and every spring there would be baby bunnies hopping around the yard. I was out on the deck one day when a hawk swooped down and nabbed one of the babies. That scream still haunts me and it's been a good seven years.

There are few times when Farkers embarrass me. This is one of them.

God forbid any of you ever have to live through something of this nature. I hope you never have to answer the phone and hear your inconsolably weeping wife on the other end of the line as she mutters the only words she is able to muster "it sucked its last breath".

Anyone who does the "welcome to fark" meme can DIAF.

Not sure if it is illegal anywhere, but swerving for small animals seems like a good way to cause a wreck. I also wonder if swerving might fake out the animal and increase it's chances of getting hit.

Her owner, Zach Corral, told his neighbors that the bunny belonged to the world.

The bunny had to go, he was teaching the kids socialism.

So it's like in nature then. Have you heard a small rabbit being played with by a cat. Terrified alone tortured to death screaming. But cats are cuddly.

So, I was going to post a picture of rabbit haunch from Skyrim, or maybe a rabbit set on fire by a spell and still running, but for the life of me I can't find a screenshot of it anywhere. Thats what I get for getting the xbox version.
