Now those two boys will grow up to start a 19th century street gang.

zabadu:

Bunnies are screaming
But the screams end abruptly
As their necks are snapped

Hear bunnies scream
Twist their necks and snap!
Delicious bunny meat is served.

I prefer the 5-7-5 format.... but still, 17 on the mark.
Juxtaposition in the final thought is better than the traditional one above it.
5 points for Gryffindor!

A deft twist, a snap
The screaming ends abruptly.
Dinner is quiet.

Goodnight, bunnyman.

True enough.

Still, how many who feel that way about the bunny were only too happy to snark off about the Duggar miscarriage?

The bunny was innocent.

This would have been completely predictable.
What exactly did you think was going to happen?
Now the person who hits the bunny probably feels like crap, although there's probably nothing they could have done.
If it wasn't that driver, it would have been a different driver.
I also like what the guy wrote... hit by "Speeding" driver, as if it's the driver's fault that he's driving on the road, and not the fault OF THE IDIOT WHO THOUGHT A FAT TAME RABBIT WOULDNT GET HIT BY A CAR

Few years back I lived across from a neighbor that had a "yard bunny". Minnesota winter rolls around and the little black dwarf is shuddering in the bushes on top of white snow. Damn house buns don't have the sense to den up or hide during the day. I confronted the neighbor to bring her bunny inside, but she assured me it would be okay. I made a few attempts to befriend and capture the bunny but I guess I was a bit too large and imposing.

What wasn't too large and imposing were the neighborhood kids that threw rocks at the rabbit and killed it. The Domesticated rabbit breeds belong in houses and hutches. Leashes or fences for short term outdoor freedom.

When I was a child I had a very sweet all white bunny named Sugar.
One day Sugar had babies.
And ate the head off every one of them.

flahorsegirl: Sorry, but the owner is a dumbass. Hello, you live in Florida, where there are literally thousands of ways for a domesticated bunny to get killed.

If it wasn't a car, it was going to be a dog, gator, bobcat, raccoon, eagle, hawk, osprey, turkey vulture or coyote that was going to get it.

Stupid freaking owner, I hope he doesn't replace it with another one.

Oh god, I've heard that scream. It kind of sounds like a mouse squealing in pain, but at a lower pitch.
I've never heard the sheep scream, though. But if it's anything like Clarise Starling described it, I don't want to hear it.

I suspect the rabbit wasn't warned that being out of a hutch could shorten his life.

I was under the impression that rabbits are fragile in a sense when it comes to being handled-ie., they have weaker spines or something and the way little kids always seem to grab cats by just hoisting them up from the middle can be fatal to rabbits. Those two kids don't look like they're holding it right. I don't imagine they were easy on it while picking it up either.

Yeah...kinda this. If you can't grow attached to real-life pets, you do need to see a doctor, because that's a bit strange if it occurs more than once or twice.

FTFA - "A nanny pushed a baby down the street every day to coo. "

I don't know where coo is, but I'm sure using a stroller or something would have been more humane than pushing the brat down the street. I hope at least the nanny bent down and really pushed it, log-roll style and didn't just kick it to the coo.

Very sad that the bunny died, losing a beloved pet sux...

Let that be a lesson to you, if you have a pet that you love dearly, don't let it wander around the neighborhood to be hit by passing cars, this wasn't the drivers fault, this was the bunny owners fault.

these people are not responsible pet owners.

I find a bunny on the road, squashed like a piece of clay.

Like the clay I make my pretend houses out of.

It's hurt.

Screaming.

I didn't know bunnies could scream.

But I figure I can make it better, like I fix my houses after I smash them with a hammer.

So I take it home, so it can be my friend. It's not screaming anymore.

But all it does is look up at me... and wait.

My stomach hurts.

I think that it could be a very important lesson that kids don't get anymore. When I read that bunnies could scream I youtubed it and found a python killing and eating a rabbit...the overwhelming sensitivity of over 70% of the viewers was incredible. People really need to quit with the wussy bullshiat, or at least stop eating meat. If you can't kill, or even watch an animal be killed, then you should be leaving the steaks for me.

I know it's supposed to be a cute, heartwarming story but I feel badly that the bunny met his untimely demise under the wheels of a car because his owner couldn't be bothered to keep him properly confined. Domestic animals don't belong roaming the streets.

Are you farking kidding me? It's a rabbit. The kid who irresponsibly left his little vermin to run around without thinking, "Gee, maybe I should care for and protect this defenseless little non-apex herbivore, which the rest of the natural world sees as fast food and is generally too dumb to come in out of the rain," learned a valuable lesson. If it's important to you, protect it. Inside.

The little rabbit-owning chump, hopefully, got the last vestiges of idealistic romanticism ("It's an outdoor bunny! It should be FREE!") skwished out before a woman gets ahold of him, cuz brother, ain't nothin' more natural than a bunny dying and a dame breakin' your heart.

Here are the remains of my bunny, they sit atop a toy piano.

RIP Sparticus, we miss you.

Question: Why does the plaque under your creepy little memorial read "Quinn"? Is that an alternative spelling of Sparticus that I'm not aware of?
