To me the pixelated cloud looks like a pixelated cloud.

I can see why some people might get pissed off though.

I know what they were thinking: "Hey! Lookatmeee! I'm Frank Lloyd Wright".

I believe it is the mission of every modern-day architect to make the engineering department cry & commit suicide en masse.

This is more true than you may realize. Like I said, every architect thinks that he/she is Frank Lloyd Wright.

I'm really curious as to what they think they're going to make the clouds out of. The stresses from the cloud edge moments are going to be excessive.

"It works in the model."

In the US, yeah. This is South Korea, noted hotspot for Islamic terrorism. I imagine few farks were given.

I happen to catch Glen Beck for 2 minutes this morning. Guess what he was being outraged about? Yep, said if these towers are opened the US should cut off all aid to Korea and remove our troops. Ever the proponent of proportional response is he.

2011-12-09 01:17:33 PM
If they painted the "cloud" portion gray, orange and red, I think that would help.

They pull a knife, you pull a nuclear bomb. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you rip out his heart eat it in front of him, rape his wife and children, piss on his dog, set fire to his house, blow up his children's school, and start a genocidal land war against the homeland of his ancestors. *That's* the *Glen Beck* way!

While this is funny, the building was actually designed by a Dutch firm.

It didn't look that way to me, simply because the cloud isn't in the right spot. What did occur to me, however, was how well those joints would handle the stress of the two buildings wanting to sway in the wind.

It looks like the building has genital warts.

It definitely made me cringe, but, hey, Koreans didn't have jets fly into their towers, so I guess it's ok.

Odd I thought it looked like a cloud. Took the article to bring up 911 before I even thought of it. Maybe it's time to let it go people.

2011-12-09 01:44:18 PM
Yes, something happened 10 years ago that kill 3000 people. From now until the end of time, nothing should ever remotely remind anyone of that day. All creative endeavors the world over must be sensitive to this and comply and anticipate the imagination and read the minds of people who have too much time on their hands.

For fark's sake. 9/11 was awful, watched the 2nd plane hit, the towers fall, I know a guy my age who was killed, I had nightmares about it. I am sick of all of the 9/11 WTC posturing. It happened, now get the fark over it already America.

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: oldfarthenry: I believe it is the mission of every modern-day architect to make the engineering department cry & commit suicide en masse.

This is more true than you may realize. Like I said, every architect thinks that he/she is Frank Lloyd Wright.

Had an Architect client whose wall had a large red poster that read:

Frank
Lloyd
Wrong

Architects think that clients hire them to 'make a statement' but often they are not clear what they want that statement to be and they use contradictory images to describe it, further confusing their chosen "Artist".

I like it. Pretty slick, actually.

Nevermind 9/11, it looks like a pile of suck and fail to me.

Only the pretentious twatwaffles. The rest of us, the architects who do the mundane projects (i.e. grocery stores), prefer to STFU and GBTW.

That said, I'm goofing off while the principals are in a meeting with the client to determine the fate of the project. I can't wait to see how much reworking of the layout I get to do. I'm so farking excited!

At 2 AM, in the middle of a binge Minecraft session, the architects realized they had a plan due the next day. Thus this was born.

Sorry, I don't see it. I can see how some extremely paranoid people can see it though.

Interesting concept, but the look didn't come out particularly appealing.

"What the hell were these architects thinking?"

Probably something like:
"Hey, here's a cool way to add to the amount of usable space in a tower complex, create some amazing views, and give otherwise-unremarkable buildings a unique element that we can even add a bit of an artistic touch to."

Sometimes a cigar is just a regular ol' cigar, and not an "OMG 911! 911! OMG! WTF! How dare they?!? Seckrit mooslim! 911! OMG!" cigar.

What is dis ting called septembuur 11? never herd of it. Must of been real special to piss the writer off. maybe his gurlfrend left him and went awy with Aliens?

/okalydokaly i find it on gogggly. hulkster kicked down two skysrapers while he was on steroid binge. but with great american geninueity, they must be rebuilt by now and with special kick absorbers to deflect hulkster attacks......

I thought it looked like the towers were growing some sort of tumors.

2011-12-09 01:51:01 PM
So, the fact they admitted 9/11 inspired it in interviews with Non-US press doesn't matter...

Sorry, guys, that is in remarkably bad taste. It's not a cloud and they never intended it to be a cloud. Hell, the freaking architect was involved in the Ground Zero planning. No way was he not thinking about 9/11.

I think the design looks pretty good.

It seems like nowadays people try to go out of their way to make an issue out of anything. Time to unbunch them panties and realize that the world doesn't revolve around 9/11.

Go forth and be among the cool.

FTFA: But to be honest, the only thing they remind me of are September 11. How did no one cry foul?

Maybe because it's in South Korea and, while 9/11 was a tragic day, the rest of the world has moved on. ?

Strange... it says that very thing in German on the sides of his antique Black Forest and Krupp Steel analvader, too.

In Fraktur.
