It should be legal to take down and destroy by fire any Christmas decoration that is inflatable.

"...including a Mickey Mouse on a horse, hugging penguins, Snoopy on a dog house and Santa on a sled."
Alemendarez says the decorations were special because they reminded her of her late husband.

FTFA: Sweetwater police say about $500 worth of lawn items were taken, including a Mickey Mouse on a horse, hugging penguins, Snoopy on a dog house and Santa on a sled.

Are they sure this wasn't stolen from 6th or 7th Ave. in Manhattan several Thursdays ago?

Remember that the thieves in Florida are really stupid but so are the people they are stealing from

I totally don't understand this kind of crap. WTF is wrong with you that you feel it's perfectly fine to steal Christmas decorations or anything else for that matter especially at this time of year. Whether you believe in the baby Jesus story as a factual account or complete fiction how far removed from the sentiment "peace on earth, goodwill to men (or women)" can you get?

I doubt this had anything to do with "Christmas" per se or any spiritual/religious components; I'm sure the thieves' thought process -- if you could call it that -- was simply: "There's something I want. I will steal it rather than earn the money to buy my own." No different from any shoplifter snagging luxury items. Some people have no conscience, no empathy, no consideration for whether their actions might hurt others.

Not only that, but then by displaying them it's the irony of all ironies. "Hey, look at me, I'm displaying stolen Christmas items that represent peace and joy and respecting your neighbors by not stealing their shiat"

Another thought occurs to me: the thieves' lack of empathy -- lack of ability to put themselves in another person's shoes, and consider how that other person would feel -- would also explain why the idiots would display their stolen goods only a block away from the crime scene: because they never considered "Y'know, the person we stole these from might be upset enough to go looking for them, and might even recognize them in our yard!" I'd guess the thieves were honestly surprised when the cops showed up: "How in the world did they ever find me?"

I got one that happened to me. When you're going to steal your neighbors trashcans, make sure they don't have their name and address spray painted in big arse text down the side. Especially don't do it if you live next door.

Why is it ok to steal Christmas decorations? Baby Jesus gets abducted every year around this time, and I for one have had enough. I'm going to glue my baby Jesus down tight and make sure that he stays put. Even if they take Mary and Joseph, they ain't getting my baby Jesus!
