To me, alcohol is not delicious. It makes you feel good so people associate it with deliciousness.

Maybe it's an acquired taste. I just think people overrate the tastiness of alcohol because they're used to the effect.

It's basically just ethanol. Gin, on the other hand, has a nice juniper flavor.

I happen to like the taste of rum, but yeah most booze needs a disguise. After all, why are mixed drinks so popular?

I suppose we do everything possible to make alcohol taste good, placing it in oak barrels for years at a time, flavoring it, going through huge complex processes. Don't get me wrong, I love alcohol, I think wine tastes good, I just don't find it delicious in the way that food can be.

I agree. I never use mixers. Mainly because they add too much sugar, ruining the drink for me.

violentsalvation: I don't know what is wrong with you guys, I love water. I gave up on soda (IT IS CALLED SODA!!) and gatorade after my last cavity. My tap water is delicious, pulled right out of the ground, no chemicals no swimming pool taste.

This stuff is a blessing from God. I can easily drink a whole pack. If you have never tried this wonderful elixer, then get your ass down to the local asian store and buy some now. Leave work if you have to.

I'm not a big drinker (as is about to be evidenced), but there were two drinks I had fairly recently that I absolutely love.

Kiss on the Lips
Take a blender. Fill half-full with chunks of frozen mango. Add some ice. Add a good glug of peach schnapps. Blend. Pour a splash of grenadine in a glass, pour in the mango slushy mix. Drink.

Black and Blue
In a glass, add about two shots each of blackberry and blueberry shnapps (99 Blackberries adds an extra pleasant kick, but will result in a drink that looks like dishwater). Add a shot each of cranberry juice and orange juice. Add ice and drink.

My husband makes a mean green-colored drink with Midouri, vodka, 99 Bananas, orange juice, sweet and sour, all blended together slushy-like with ice. He tried to enter it in a mixology contest on our cruise, and ended up making something completely different because they wouldn't let him put in enough Midouri.
