I don't know. The 90s aren't really that modern anymore. It is 2011. It's been a while.

If you're submitting something on an American internet it better damn well be in ENGLISH

I'll never understand tattoos and piercings.

I mean, even though I think they're one of the dumbest things one could do, I don't mind people having them done. Everybody has a right to do dumb shiat. Especially when they don't harm anyone else.

But what I don't get is this:

Tattoo/piercing people love to say that we shouldn't judge people by their tattoos/piercings, but I've seen countless people getting tattoos/piercings done because it's cool or because it makes oral sex better or some crap (that's for the tongue piercing). Even better, they judge people for not having tattoos/piercings (i.e.: They're not cool enough).

If you can look cooler by havint tattoos/piercings, then that means it's a "judgeable" trait. Don't expect all judgement to be positive.

Also, WHAT do tattoos/piercings really bring to the table? To this date NOBODY has given me a reasonable argument. The closest one is the old tattoo one: "it's something meaningful for me", which is a pretty nebulous thing anyway, but kinda understandable. Still, hard to believe the people wrapped in tattoos have so many meaningful things.

Also, don't say "it's part of my nature", because if you hadn't seen other tattooed people, it's very likely you'd never even thought about it. Tattooing is not in our DNA or anything.

Chrome is asking me "Do you want to translate this page from GERMAN to ENGLISH?".

So it's not just him. Now take that attitude and shove it.

Well, that was stupid.

2011-12-09 10:54:31 AM
What ever happened to the days of planning ahead for your tats? Make it so that all your ink can be covered by nice clothing (for funerals, weddings and job interviews). Secondly consider being inked in such a manner that you can wear a tee-shirt and shorts while not showing ink. That way you can show up at the family reunion with your having to listen to your great aunt biatch. These days the stuff is looking like urban sprawl. shiat started on your back and now it is some weird mishmash of colors running down your arms that doesn't look good and doesn't appear to have a plan.

Like most other Marines I have Semper Fi inked on my body and a bit of additional work, but I can cover it easily when society requires me to.

/recently interviewed a kid who had shiat from Little Big Planet running down both arms and onto the back of his hands
//had to ask him where the characters were from
/I'm not hiring you because of the ink, I'm not hiring you because you lack the common sense to avoid looking like a walking piece of Hepatitis

Yeesh, the Mulan one reminds me eerily of the way my ex-wife looked when I got back from a several month long deployment. Sure she had ink before I left, but when I got back she was crazy with ink and piercings and crazy in general.

2011-12-09 11:25:53 AM
Two things:

1: A link to a link to another site you could have simply posted in the first place is really damn annoying.

2: I would have been far more impressed with original work, instead of, predominantly b&W, pallette swaps/overlays.

2011-12-09 11:37:50 AM
Those are all wrong, you see a Disney Princess would never get a neck tattoo. She would only get Tattoos that could be covered up for formal occasions.

You've just projected your own judgment onto those which you're judging and saying they shouldn't be judgmental about the judgment you're claiming they did...

rocky_howard: The closest one is the old tattoo one: "it's something meaningful for me",

A. I kind of have a body art fetish. I just have not been able to afford to indulge it as much as I want. I imagine that is a large part of it for many people. They just like it.

B. The one tattoo I have is "For I am the cat, who walks by herself, and all places are alike to me, wrapped around my ankle with the wood cut illustration of Kipling's Cat from the first edition of the book. Its something my father said about me since I was "yea high." So for every douche bag that walks in and picks something off the wall, there is someone that put a lot of work into an image that is realy meaningful.

Tyrone Slothrop: What, no hipster Ariel?

She was in there twice.

You want people to justify something that, by your own admission, "doesn't harm anyone else" to your own sense of what is "reasonable" and think that if people have a lot of ink that there's no way that all of it can be meaningful to them and you're not passing judgment?

Also, victim? You were victimized by people not thinking you were 'cool'? Did they take your lunch money? Burn your house down?

This comes off like you were shot down by the hot goth chick and haven't gotten over it yet.

I don't want them to justify anything. They DON'T HAVE to justify anything. It's when they do that it comes off as contrived and cock-punchable.

Of course, there's always a case like KiplingKat872:'s. But for most people is just herd behaviour that they then try to pass off as unique personal statement.

For me it's OK if people want to have tattoos. I don't have a problem with that. Many of my friends have them and if I was an employer I wouldn't discriminate somenone solely on the basis of a tattoo/piercing. That's unrelated to their ability to do the job. And I'm actually an iconoclast/liberal person.

I was just pointing out the irony / hypocrisy of many tattooed/pierced people who qualify untattooed/unpierced people as square/uncool, but then complain when they're qualified by others.

And that's the thing, for most people it's just a fad or something you need to do to be cool.

Having tattoos / piercings is not a symbol of coolness or liberal values.

Also, victim? You were victimized by people not thinking you were 'cool'? Did they take your lunch money? Burn your house down?

Victim has several aceptions, not just the horrible situation one.

Dude, seriously, I have yet to run into anyone with tats that uses a lack of them as some sort of "cool factor" gauge. They probably find you uncool because you're a grown man with 1950s sensibilities about body art.

Yup. 50's sensibilities. That's the ticket. Specially when I stated the opposite. But hey, it's better to deflect than to confront.

Actually the point was that the internet isn't confined by national borders(Except garden spots like China), and that expecting a page to be in English just because you're from America is pretty damned arrogant, NOT that the page was actually in German, although the OP seems to have the idea that's it's in French, because we all know how much they sound alike.
