The easy way out isn't always creative.

2011-12-09 11:49:42 AM
Wouldn't it be the creativity that is the best asset?

/creative people are not necessarily liars or disingenuous. why say that?
//a little anti-intellectualism perhaps?

I was just saying the same thing to my wife.... Morgan Fairchild.

I voted in their poll..

but I lied.

OTOH, a not-so-creative person's best asset is his/her lay-ability.

I have been accused of being "morally flexible"

I defend my actions by declaring that I am not a "slut" (bear in mind that I am a 57 yr old male so I will take any comment as positive) but that I am "popular".

/I get slapped a lot.

Creative people probably realized that such a silly mistake was obviously contrived, figured that they were being manipulated, and would have none of it. Then, they marked all the correct answers figuring that, if they were going to resist manipulation, they might as well make a couple dollars out of it.

The non-creative students were thinking, "Oh no I can't mess up this nice, honest experiment about how well monetary incentives improve quiz performance!"

As one of those who works in the "creative industry" and who's actual title at work is "Creative Director", I can honestly say that YES, my morals are loose and I'm a good liar.

/of course, because I'm a "creative" you'll never know if the above statement is indeed factual or not

This just in: people who are good at making stuff up, make stuff up.

I was really hoping the article was going to be proof that not being able to laze about kills creativity.

/needs a nap

A Senior Copy Chief thinks you're brilliant.

I find this very hard to believe. Most liars I've ever met were indeed successful people, but they generally stole ideas rather than creating them -- unless that's now the perverse definition of "creativity" these days.

Sounds like you simply aren't capable of recognizing the truly creative, excellent liars when you see them.

Well, fiction writers really are just longwinded liars.

But i think that's a long way from being a pathological liar in day to day life.

Maybe it's because they just got sick and tired of explaining things to the non-creative types. Sometimes a well placed lie can be a better answer than the truth. I suspect that's how God was created. Kids asking too many damn questions about every damn little thing until "God did it Timmy, OK? Now STFU for a damned minute so you won't scare all the game away."

Did anyone else read that and think the whole study was bullshiat? Or why someone with a PhD in Economics was running a study like this? Then, FTFA:

"Still, Caplan said, the researchers did load the dice in favor of their theory by choosing students for study volunteers. "If I were trying to hunt up someone who is ethically the most willing to be pushing the limits, it would be college students," Caplan explained. "They're still exploring or testing ethics and morality.""

She knows her study is crap and still runs with it to publishing? So this is the kind of shiat someone does to drum up grant money? Very creative ..... oh, I see what you did there....

Creative people tend to be poor, because they choose to become things like actors and artists. They thus have greater incentive to cheat on a quiz where money is involved.

As I mentioned in a thread earlier this week, the only time I ever spanked my kid was when she lied to me and Mrs_Fab. The reason I hit her? Because she did it so convincingly.

I cannot and will not have a bright, creative and convincing liar living under my roof.

Very scary and accurate!

No, I did not "sleep" with her.

Stop talking or god will "get you" if you scare the game away.

People are happy to steal the products of my creativity, so I am happy to lie to them.

"Deception ...Lies. We have only recently become aware of these concepts. In our dealings with Sarris. Often Sarris will say one thing, and do another. Promise us mercy but deliver destruction... It is a concept we are beginning to learn at some great cost.... But if you are saying that any of you could have traits in common with Sarris... Ha ha ha ha"

Those are just the ones you catch.

It's like Charlie Manson or that Clown guy are the portraits of an UN-successful serial killer. Zodiac has never been caught.

Boring people can sit in routine long enough to be successful in business. Creative types go INSANE with office work. So the best liars are either never caught or, like Stephen King, spin lies so complex we enjoy them as a kind of truth called a story.

Probably the most clearly false article I've ever seen on fark, and I even browse the politics tab.
