Excellent headline, subby.
Where's my calculator?

What kind of business geniuses can't turn a profit by charging over $100 for a calculator that was cutting edge 25 years ago?

Ahhhh, too bad. TI can burn in eternal damnation for all I care. Laid me off after 25 years of loyal indentured servitude. I say let em crash Shanna.

You may be pleased to learn that my new calculator is a Casio - under $20. I figured that rather than pay $150 for a grossly overpriced obsolete programmable calculator, I'd buy a cheaper calculator and a cheap mini-laptop for $70 more than just the TI 89.

I think it was TI, might be wrong, was laying people off. The guy had 29.5 years of service. No pension.

/fark greed.

Except that laptop isn't allowed on the SAT or most engineering tests. TI-89 is hands down the best investment I ever made in college.

That said, it's 16 MHz and has 1/4 MB of RAM and 4 MB of flash. It's a joke. The entire system could probably be done on a chip by now. The input is much easier and faster than a laptop and it lasts for almost 6 months on 4 AAAs.

The TI-89 isn't allowed for the FE exam (or any other NCEES exams). You're limited to: Casio fx-115 (all models), Hewlett-Packard HP 33s and HP 35s, and Texas Instruments TI-30X and TI-36X (all models).

Thank god I don't have to take the FE.
