Been watching lots of Rolling Stones concert videos lately. Got "Ladies and Gentlemen: TRS" and the new "Some Girls: Live in Texas" blu-ray. Both are highly recommended.

/oddly enough, the song "Some Girls" does not appear on the "Some Girls: Live in Texas" video.

Yet another example of why The Stones are greater than The Beatles.

Classy and cool.

Ultravibe: Right on, Keith and Mick.

Too bad they care about an old blues guy more than Mick Taylor.

They probably took it out of petty cash.

Good for them. There are too many great musicians and composers in pauper's graves.

Haydn, for example.

Taylor dug his own grave with the Stones. He was expecting to come in as a fresh-faced 20 something into a tight-knit group of late 30's old school rockers and be immediately accepted into the inner circle. Sure, Keith was probably jealous of his playing at times and probably a dick in other ways, but Taylor walked away because he got his feelings hurt over not getting a songwriting credit he thought he deserved. He didn't even try to work it out with the band or fight for what he thought was right - he just got his panties in a wad and quit right before a tour, displaying his obvious immaturity and forcing the band to scramble to find a replacement.

That said, the era with Taylor is their best work; even Keith and Mick have admitted that.

It would've been nice if they would have done the same for Brian Jones - or even bothered to show up at his service....

I don't particularly think Taylor particularly enjoyed the circus of being in the Stones. For one thing he was just a 20 year old kid from a garden city London Suburb who had very little experience in the biz when the Stones hired him. Had to be intimidating as hell. I think he was more than ready to find a parachute to jump out of that plane, and the song writing beef was his opportunity. On one hand, yeah .. I think he should get paid for any songs he helped write. On the other hand, might be best to be a little diplomatic about it to the guys that plucked you out of obscurity and into a 5 star hotel lifestyle. If Taylor had been a little older and wiser he probably would have handled it the way Wood has. Stick around long enough and pay your dues and don't rock the boat and you'll be taken care off beyond your wildest dreams.

Unlike Hubert Sumlin, Brian Jones had more than enough money to pay for his his own funeral. From all accounts Brian Jones was a cruel, mean spirited, miserable twunt who brought nothing but hardship and misery to everyone around him, especially his bandmates. I don't think anyone is particularly obligated to attend the funeral of people they didn't like.

All true, except for the ages. The Stones hadn't hit 30 yet when Taylor joined. Mick was 26.

They started pretty damn young.
