Wait a minute, I thought Garfield got shot, not the other way around.

I'm cool with a re-boot.

I'm cool with yet another super hero movie.

I'm not cool with another damn origin story. We all know how Spidey gets his powers. Why do was always have to focus on origin stories?

/I'm cool.

I dunno whether or not I should be happy that I'm not the only person to think this...

I'm fine with the origin in a reboot, provided it doesn't take up half of the fakakta movie. 5 minutes, move on.

It could be that he gets bitten within the first 5 minutes and is playing around learning what he can do and crafting his persona as Spider-Man. Something I dont think the previous movies did. So it could be something new.

Edward Norton's Incredible Hulk handled putting the origin story in the movie the best. The first five minutes of the opening credits told you everything you needed to know.

The trailer to the ang lee movie did too. The one that ends with "and the worst part is, I like it."

Watchmen did a beautiful job with the opening seuqnce that condensed a lot of backstory in a sensible way.

I realize the origin is the core of a character, but jeez. All Star superman reduced the origin to 4 panels and 8 words and it worked perfectly.

Bingo. I'm hoping they do something similar with Man of Steel and Ghost Rider: Vengeance.

The one exception as far as origin stories are concerned was Batman Begins for me. They did it so well and in such an exciting way that I didn't mind having to see Batman's origins yet again. I guess something in that vein might be difficult for Spider-Man, however. I don't see him traveling to Asia and studying with a cult for years.

Technically, we never saw an origin story for Batman before Batman Begins. Tim Burton's Batman shows the childhood trauma as a flashback, but skips ahead to Bruce Wayne already making a name for himself. We don't see anything inbetween the death of the Waynes and Batman, no training, no building the batcave, no sourcing his gadgets, etc. That's why Batman Begins works, its not a rehashing of the origin story, its telling part of the story we haven't seen before.
