Trump, You're fired!

2011-12-09 09:42:56 AM
So Newt and Santorum are gonna debate? Seems like as the current front runner debating 1 guy is not a good move, pretty sure Newt would drop out very soon.

2011-12-09 09:44:06 AM
I was happy to see most of the candidates turn it down. The nomination process is already enough of a circus as it is. Ron Paul's response was the best, but I did enjoy Huntsman's "lol."

2011-12-09 09:44:52 AM
This is just going to be an hour-long infomercial for Gingrich featuring an appearance by L'il Santy. Given all the coverage the debate has been getting on Fox, this will actually really work out well for cementing Newt's frontrunner status.

2011-12-09 09:45:33 AM
Why do people even take Trumptard seriously? Oh wait, its the GOP.

Not just one guy, he's debating one guy who has consistently polled low. It's not like it's the two front runners debating each other. So yeah, I agree, it's only a matter of time before Newt drops out.

If you were Gingrich why would you debate a guy with nothing to lose?

2011-12-09 09:47:05 AM
I do love Newt's quintessentially dick-ish response. It is as if he's saying "if you can't handle this jackass, how do you expect to to be able to handle Obama?"

2011-12-09 09:47:22 AM
"I think if you're afraid to debate with Donald Trump," Gingrich mused this week, "people are going to say, 'So you want me to believe you can debate Barack Obama but you're afraid to show up with Donald Trump?'"

I think they're going to ask why you're debating the moderator.

2011-12-09 09:47:31 AM
Newt's gonna wipe the floor with Santorum!

2011-12-09 09:48:00 AM
The best thing is that this just cements the humiliating way Trump was tossed on his ear in May. He thought he had it all planned out: go underground for a few months, let everything pass by, and then come back in the same manner of Gingrich and Santorum and host a debate, proving that he still had what it took to play in big boy politics. After all, he couldn't let Obama get the last word, could he?

And look at him: his 'debate' is just a farking mess that only the truly desperate would join up with. Not only is everybody suddenly reminded of the sad state of the GOP roster, but they're reminded that Trump is a pathetic huckster that can't do anything right. Some 'businessman.'

FTFA: Only Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum have accepted The Donald's invitation

So what are those two turds and Trump are going to do now?

a) Put their best face and proceed with the debate even if it's only with those two?
b) An embarrassed Trump cancels the debate due to lack of interest?
b) Newt and Rick make up and excuse and say they didn't realize there was a schedule conflict with their campaign so they can't attend either?

Nah, it's going to be an hour of Trump stroking his own ego.

2011-12-09 09:50:51 AM
We have Newt as a front runner because Fox has so poisoned the debate with derp that . good candidates won't run (new window)

2011-12-09 09:52:01 AM
Just think, only 77 more debates to go!

I think any risk that the extremist and unpopular Santorum could create would be far overshadowed by the free hour of publicity. Why pay for ad space when you can get free air time appearing with one of the most popular pseudo-Republicans in the country?

2011-12-09 09:55:06 AM
Is Trump going to have dancing girls, or Meatloaf and Gary Busey cooking up some steaks?

2011-12-09 09:55:10 AM
Just gonna be an hour of Gingrich and Trump blowing each other while Santorum works himself into a frothy mess in the background.

Guntram Shatterhand: his 'debate' is just a farking mess that only the truly desperate would join up with.

Bachmann reeks of desperation. It is as if she fills her bathtub with the tears of closeted homosexuals, then dumps a bottle of Eau D'esperation and soaks in it until she gets pruny.

And she still turned it down.

Because you could say something stupid in this less controlled environment or Santorum could get one or a bunch in on you because the dude can throw haymakers because he is in the cellar anyways.

And he debated a pretend Obama!

I kind of figured this would be the case when Newt and Trump had a private meeting to work out the kinks in his child labor plan. I mean...I can't imagine it's common for a debate moderator to meet privately with one of the debaters to discuss policy ahead of the event.

My money's on a variation of B. Trump will suddenly have an "urgent business matter" that he needs to attend to and he will withdraw as moderator, leaving Newsmax to mop up the mess.

2011-12-09 10:02:24 AM
If I was part of Mitt Romney's or Perry's team I would be sending Santorum all the best dirt I had on Gingrich for this debate and tell him there's a spot in your admin for him(and then of course don't actually put him in if you win). That way the attacks get out there and you don't even have to do it.

Why doesn't Trump pony up for his own debate?

Why do I care?

Exactly. Trump's goal is going to be to make Trump look good at the candidate's expense.

Of course, being Trump, he'll instead make himself look like a bloviating narcissist, but that won't do any good for the candidates he'll be badgering.

Headso: Because you could say something stupid in this less controlled environment or Santorum could get one or a bunch in on you because the dude can throw haymakers because he is in the cellar anyways.

This is true, but a possibility at any one of the debates as well. The Donald and Gingrich seem to have some kind of seekrit thing going on too, so I'm thinking it will be relatively controlled in Newt's favor. Besides, for all of Newt's idiocy, pretty much anyone could wipe the floor with Santorum.

Just imagine the howls if Brian Williams and Obama had a sitdown before a debate. IOKIYAR, I suppose.

I think Colbert can pull more candidates for his animal planet debate than Trump is getting for his, simply because of the fact that Colbert might actually be able to ask relevant questions without stroking his ego the whole time.

C'mon Huntsman, Johnson, Paul, you know you want to.

I'd rather watch a boardwalk side show... It would be far more intellectually stimulating.

2011-12-09 10:08:14 AM
Good... now that all those losers are out of the way, we can change the format to a talk show set up. Gingrich and Trump will provide callers with relationship advice and we'll get Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew to join them.

"Aha ha ha. Oh, gosh that's funny. That's really funny. Do you write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. You are fired. You know, I've never heard anyone make that joke before. Mmm. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference, reference that outside the program before. Because that's what he says on the show right? Isn't it? You are fired. And yet, you have taken that and used it out of context, to insult me in this everyday situation. God what a clever, smart girl you must be, to come up with a joke like that all by yourself. Mmm, that's so fresh too. Any titanic jokes you want to throw at me while we're hitting these at the height of their popularity? Hmm? Cause... I'm here. God you're SO funny. "

I was stuck on a flight-line the other day, and the TV was permanently set on Fox News. Trump was on talking about this. His only pro for having the debate was that it would cause controversy and have high ratings. Not inform the public, not offer a unique perspective, not ask hard questions. Just ratings.

Also, the people there admitted they only watch Fox News for the "hottest babes".

Are we supposed to ignore the irony of your use of a Family Guy quote to mock his lack of originality when you could have instead said something original? Is this a meta thing where you use your lack of originality to mock the OP's lack of originality?

No way. Trump will withdraw, but it will be because of what SOMEONE ELSE did, or thinks, or was gonna do. It certainly won't be Trump's fault.

DON'T YOU KNOW HE'S A VERY SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN, AUTHOR, TV STAR, HAS THE HIGHEST RATED SHOW ON NBC (who, BTW, don't want him to run because they would have to give up his top-rated TV show). Plus, people really, really like him.

There's no possible way it could be his fault.

The funny thing is that Santorum is the only candidate that's accepted as a candidate by the mainstream who is making income mobility and wage stagnation a prominent issue to address. If he weren't completely batshiat insane, he could be cleaning up by harping on that issue.
