I didn't read the article but it was all over the news this morning.

It could have been the driver, she had what was reported on the TV as a diabetic episode and lost control of the car. So yeah, probably the driver and she is OK.

But seriously.. still have a number of friends in Austin, some who know Jonathan, and I reckon they're no quite so inclined to think this was funny, bizarre circumstances or no. Did see this on FB, so at least some relatively good news: "I spoke with Jonathan Toubin's family. His condition has stabilized enough for surgery, he is responsive and can move his arms and legs. He has multiple injuries and will require multiple surgeries... very rough condition, but all pull-throughable."

The cab driver, Terry L. Uding, 52, had low blood sugar at the scene, and likely suffered a diabetic medical emergency, according to fire, police and Radio Cab officials. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated and released.

If she's diabetic and failed to take her insulin shot or skipped a meal, then she was negligent and should be treated no differently than any other idiot driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If she *was* following her prescribed regimen and still had a blood sugar crisis then her medical condition is not under control and she had no business being behind the wheel in the first place.

Fark her. Throw her in jail like any other DUI suspect who drives into a building.
