Motivational speakers down on their luck, however do not.

not really, it's not like child rapists and homeless people were buying their econolines new anyway. this just means as the years go by and the vans age, kids will be exposed to jagged rust as they get pulled into their vans and away from their innocence and will probably get tetanus as they lose their (there was originally a pun on tetanus here, but i'm not comfortable posting it).

Strict fundementalist "full quiver" Christians are furious and plan to sue because of the violation to their first amendment rights.

And every band who has gone on tour.... Jamming econo kinda stinks compared to these plush new vans. The difference between a Honda Odyssey and an Econoline is amazing for a long trip with 400lbs of amps and drums and turntables and crap and 4 stinky dudes taking turns driving.

I'm not sad to see it go.

Interesting, this has been a popular ambulance chassis for many years now.

So is this the first move in bringing the Transit to America?

What will those dudes in the mall parking lot sell their speakers from now?

Ramsay: So is this the first move in bringing the Transit to America?

The Transit Connect has been in America for a couple of years now. the place I used to work for outfitted them for sales and servicing fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency lights.

That seems to be the case. Jalopnik reported as such, I believe. More than anything, I'm hoping this means that the euro Transit 4x4 systems will become available.

Mercedes put the kaibosh on bringing any of the 4x4 Sprinter parts to North America, so if you want a 4x4 van you're stuck paying an extra $10k to Quigley, Salem Kroger, etc. (basically you buy a lot of components twice.) Being able to buy a factory 4x4 van should bring the prices WAY down.

That sucks. I just heard yesterday where they stopped production on the Ranger also.

The Transit is a bigger van. Looks more like the Sprinters. The little Transit Connect is already all over the place in the US.

Wasn't the Econoline prone to rollovers?

/or was that the media making it up again?

Having seen one that rolled at freeway speeds, I can't say I'm unhappy to see it go.

Other way around. Ford made them, Mazda sold a version of them as their own truck... But it was still all Ford.

thousands of underground bands will be inconsolable...in about 13 years when there are no more used vans left to buy

I still drive one, and hope it lasts quite a long time. But the gas mileage is terrible so I guess it's good to see them go.

Sad, I learned to drive in one in 1967. 140 burn'n cubes, about 100 hp. Straight six, three on the tree. In New Jersey, in the winter. Dad sold it in 1971 to some kid that was going to make a camper out of it. Wrecked it in less than two weeks.

I can drive anything, thanks to that rattle trap.
