Yesterday Rashad Evans says this; "I guarantee you'll be the first one to take a shot," Evans said to Davis. "Guarantee. Because I'm going to put my hands on you worse than that dude did them other kids at Penn State." So far no punishment.

Not too long ago Forrest griffin tweeted "rape is the new missionary" and got no punishment.

Miguel makes a joke used in a tv show and gets fired. Guess it sucks to not be a UFC golden boy.

Gee, who would have thought that the most powerful used car salesman in sports would protect his main event talent and cast off his interchangeable mid-carders at the slightest hint of trouble?

You're right. It's not surprising, but it is a shame. Torres is a very talented fighter, and I believe he should've gotten the W over mighty mouse.

Good news is the UFC is finally adding a flyweight division. I'm thinking Jo Benavidez is gonna take that belt and own it for a while.

What a crock of shiat.

You really need to reconsider this move, Dana.

There are enough Bantamweights for Dana to cut one to make a ridiculous example out of him.

The golden boys really are protected.

I clicked the link to see who was the guy that got the axe and was stunned to see Torres' name pop up. If anything, this only stands to reinforce my position that the UFC is nothing more than professional wrestling with real violence, where Dana White even shares the same disdain as Vince McMahon for "little guys".

Ultimate fighting is the gayest thing I've ever seen on TV. That stuff is so homoerotic that I'm pretty sure most of its fans have something they are hiding from the rest of the world (the rest are already out of the closet)

That's why I watch that cage fighting stuff on television. At least in the UFC, they do acrobatic moves and shiat. All WWE proves is that real fights are boring.

So let me get this straight - you run a sport that is literally banned in entire states because the point is to beat the living crap out of the other guy, and you ban a guy for quoting a TV show? Wow.

I have a feeling that it had something to do with this: Link (new window) (right side, 3rd item down) interview Dana White had on OTR earlier today where the host read out the relevant Torres tweet to him. If that link is geoblocked, here's a partial shiatty transcript of the exchange:

Host: "Miguel Torres..."

DW: "What'd he say? I haven't even seen this one."

Host: "If a rape van was called a surprise van, more women wouldn't mind going for rides in them, everyone likes surprises. - Offensive?

DW: *Shakes head* "Yeah, that's pretty bad."

Host: "Yeah, that's pretty bad."

DW: "So that one was yesterday?"

Host: "Yeah, yesterday, then he took it off and changed it pretty quickly."

There's a bit before that exchange about the UFC's social media policies and it goes on about the Davis/Rashad thing too.

I wish I could strike a tweet into the leg of the UFC and retract the kick as fast as this happens.

Um, I take the opposite approach there. If it's a work-required account, they should be using it for work related communications. If he'd had a separate personal account and posted it to that, I could see it as something of a "big deal".

It's like if you signed up to a transformers erotic fanfic mailing list with your work email address.

And, this is why my company has a team that comes up with their Twitter and Facebook postings, crafting them to meet their company goals and it's frowned upon to have a social networking site. It's not banned, mind you, just frowned upon in case something we say on them that is attributed to the company's official position. I'll just put this out there: We were in close ties with Penn State and there was an unofficial gag order regarding anything Penn State in the office (that still stands). We have nothing to do with the sports programs, just the college.

I have NO PROBLEM with the request, and don't maintain any social networking pages. Funny thing, I've been much happier not updating them. Like this poor fool, what I may find funny could be construed as bad by my company. I don't think I'd be fired, but why chance it?

/social networking is the debil, Bobby!

The NHL suspended Sean Avery and the Dallas Stars cut him for his "sloppy seconds" comment, so it's not exactly without precedent.

They'll be more lenient if you're a superstar and you're the main event of the next show on Fox. But if you're Miguel Torres, who hasn't been at the top of the heap for quite some time, you need to be careful about what you say. Pick your times, and all that. I guarantee I'd get reprimanded heavily and possibly fired if I told a couple of rape jokes around the office.

Money Miguel is probably being paid too much considering his recent performances (thanks, Greg Jackson). Maybe Bowles broke him. He'll win a fight or two in Bellator and be back by next August.

Benavidez will be a contender, Mighty Mouse will surely drop down (IIRC, he doesn't cut to make bantam), but my money is on Ian "Uncle Creepy" McCall. He had a brief run in the WEC (with a fun fight against Cruz before he was champ), but his recent run in Tachi Palace Fights (who happen to have a bunch of the best flyweights) includes a win over Formiga (Jussi da Silva), who was considered to be the best in the world. Hopefully the UFC can poach a few of those guys and sign a couple of Japanese flyweights. Supposedly, an announcement regarding the inaugural flywight matchups is coming this weekend, maybe after 140.

I'm of the opinion that, regardless of the subject matter, if it's funny "good job" if not "better luck next time."

Well, he won 3 of 5 since the Bowles fight though.

for what it's worth, Torres DID make $60k for his most recent fight, but $30k of it was a bonus. Once you take out taxes, pay trainers/nutritionists, etc, they don't make much...and he actually made A LOT compared to most. I imagine he makes more from endorsements than from the UFC, but those endorsements are going to suffer when he's fighting at smaller shows.
