Dummy, he should have stolen a hand truck today and a tarp tomorrow and he could have wheeled a really big TV out the back door.

Somebody get that guy a job on wall street. It's that rare combination of audacity and brazenness that really sells in the financial markets..

By comparison, the legal limit to drive in Iowa is .08. Although, he wasn't driving... soooo, no one really gives a rat's ass. How about telling us we can buy beer in bottles, cans, kegs and can even drink it from glasses, cups or straight from the container?!?

I find it hard to believe they keep track of all the shiat stolen from their stores. Especially to the extent that they can identify a jacket worn into the store days after it was stolen.

Something else must have tipped the store off that he was shoplifting.

He slipped - and fell in the mud. Ruining the very jacket he was about to return.

Walmart now uses RFID tags on most of its clothing items. So not only can they tell if a particular piece of clothing came from their store, they can tell one coat from another, even if they are the same size/color/style. So coat AF327 was stolen while coats AF328 and AF329 were paid for. Coats AF330 and AF 331 are still on the rack, waiting to be sold. It is kinda scary how well it works.

I agree with the scary part, but retail theft for a any company is a huge drag on earnings, employee compensation, and consumer prices. Everyone loses.

A lot of retail theft is employee theft or highly organized criminal activity, and not simply kids, or theft of need.

Bad taste. Just found an awesome no frills wool winter coat at Salvation Army. $6.50! (would have paid much more) Bring it, Winter!!

Come on Wal Mart trifecta!

It's Wal-Mart, so I'm surprised the "security" would even notice.

Oh Louis Gossett, Jr., have you sunk so low?

Had a friend walk out of WalMart with a guitar before because he wanted to prove that he could do it.

/Mom worked for WalMart in a small college town, one of her jobs was tracking inventory and loss due to theft. A few years ago they had a year with $50,000 missing from alcohol theft.

As a Wal*Mart employee, this doesn't shock me. People be stupid when it comes to theft.

I knew someone who walked out with a paintball gun. Another time, they walked out with a skateboard. Security did nothing both times.

Hey, at least he demonstrated a need for the coat. He didn't steal just to be stealing, He actually wore the thing. In his defense, it was a Wal-Mart coat so how nice could it have possibly been?

Return stolen coat for store credit!

It is a coat. If you live in a cold enough are nice becomes less and less of a factor while warmth, a good hood, and nice big pockets (for either gloves or your hands) become much more important. It is a utilitarian piece of gear, not a fashion statement.

This is why you should never buy anything at Walmart and ever return to the store wearing same. Mistakes are made. Especially around security job evaluation time.

2011-12-09 08:11:22 AM
WalMart should be glad they get their shoplifters to come back. Loyalty is something to value.

Is it just me or are criminals actually becoming more stupid?

maybe they just didn't catch up to him the first time, when they saw same dude w/ same coat come strolling back in, they focused in.

also: him lifting up a t.v. and walking out the door without paying may have tipped em off too.

/used to be the 'secret shopper'
//yes, i'm watching you from the corner of my eye
