Your Facebook page is a greater legacy to your time on Earth than any snot-faced little kid who shares half of your genes

If half isn't enough to get you to reproduce, have a child with your sister. It will have three quarters of your genes on average.

If you actually believe that statement, please act on it and don't breed.

Hey, Facebook pages aren't going to overpopulate an already crowded planet.

Facebook is nothing more than the same attention whores and drama queens biatching about their lives every stinking day. You know, like Fark, but without the current events and wit.

Worthless memes > worthless genes?

Legacy has nothing to do with children, but it has nothing to do with Facebook either. Actually, fame doesn't matter either. Fred Astaire was all the rage back in his day; now how many people know about him? Go farther back (pre-industrial) and the number of household names among entertainers dwindles rapidly.

The longest legacies are tied to knowledge. Gaius Appuleius Diocles is a nobody these days; no one passes high school geometry without hearing of Pythagoras.

Most people are stupid though; so much for that. Most people are best off just getting involved in their community. My grandfather was a classic GI Generation workhorse who supported a family that was grateful enough to show up to his funeral. If that's a parent's idea of "legacy". . . wheee. My youth orchestra instructor was a local legend who lived for others; the family went out of their way to keep his death low-key and the memorial service still got crushed by 700 people. That's 700 stories about just how awesome this guy was. Sure he'll be forgotten within two generations but for an otherwise unremarkable guy he made a far bigger impact that most people I've met.

I'm an effin' cog. Having kids is about as meaningful to my legacy as a TPS report.

True, but most people today aren't concerned with "legacy". They want fame, attention, and money NOW. They couldn't give two shiats about what happens once they're worm food. In that case, it's better to flash, cash, and run.

If you don't have your own legacy of significant discovery, then your ONLY legacy is the potential of your children.

Given, but if most you shiats raised a child the way you go about presenting yourself on facebook, the state would change their name before you got out of jail.

I'm not a violent man by nature, but if the person who wrote that was serious they need to be beaten to death with a spiked club.

This from a snot-faced kid. Sad, but funny.

I guess grammar deterioration is one of the risks of internet

Yeah, well having kids isn't going to get you any of those either, unless you're the Duggars.

kingoomieiii: If you don't have your own legacy of significant discovery, then your ONLY legacy is the potential of your children.

That's not legacy; that's taking credit for others' work.

Facepalm. I'm not saying live vicariously. I'm saying that for most people, the best thing they can give the world is to raise a kid to be a good person. "Having an interesting facebook profile" doesn't even chart.

Almost anything is a greater legacy than popping out snot-faced kids.

PainInTheASP: Facebook is nothing more than the same attention whores and drama queens biatching about their lives every stinking day. You know, like Fark, but without the current events and wit.

Don't forget: 1) the undiagnosed Asperger's kid from college that keeps asking you to buy his virtual corn; and 2) your Aunt Tilly that continually posts FoxNews story links and "Footsteps". It's an unholy trinity, which is why I read Fark every day and check Facebook once a week.

People only leave two things behind: children, and art.

I'd rather not leave a legacy at all. I want to be as insignificant in death as I am in life.

Well, I'd like my death to be my legacy, I guess. I want people to say, "twat_waffle? Isn't that the guy who built a homemade guillotine (or something similarly cool) to punch his ticket?"

Barring that, to be remembered after death is the last thing I want.
