IMO: Michigan looks like a mitten with a giant thumb, and Wisconsin looks like a mitten with a tiny thumb. The real mitten state is Rhode Island, which looks like an upside-down mitten.

Wisconsin is no mitten... That being said, the protesters earlier this year turned it into a clenched fist; perhaps it's a clenched fist wearing a glove?

My vote is for Michigan.

Now I can be happy that I have done something very important today.

My co-worker is from Wisconsin. She says that Michigan is the big-thumb mitten and Wisconsin is the small-thumb mitten. While having the big thumb may seem to be a winner, Michigan still has the Upper Peninsula, which is decidedly un-mittenlike. Thus, as a state, Michigan may actually be less mittenish than Wisconsin. Michigan may be able to regain its top mitten status by off-loading the U.P. If Wisconsin ends up absorbing the U.P., its mitten status will be similarly destroyed. Therefore, if Michigan gets rid of the Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin would refuse to absorb it and Canada would get it by default. Once this happens, the mitten debate will really heat up and we'll likely see some kind of real winner. And that winner would be Canada.

Everyone I know from Michigan talks about the UP like it's a different country. It probably wouldn't be too difficult to convince them to let it go.
