What did the Ad say? Maybe: "Free White Baby". It's a real bargain. No need to pay $15,000 at a government sanctioned adoption agency. Just baby sit the kid for a trial time of two weeks and then it's all yours.

And that's why you don't offer to watch random people's kids without those important bits of information. If they're willing to dump their kids off on strangers, there's a reasonable chance that they're not coming back for them, ever.

The thing is... As much of an amazing biatch the mother is, at least she dropped the kid off with someone remotely safe... Well, okay that was just luck wasn't it? And the babysitter, who did the right thing and took care of the child when the mother didn't come back, then notified the police... She's not going to get paid for this...

So. Yeah. Mother needs a kick in the box.

I'm not sure I agree with you. I've lived 28 years without any indication that abandoning your child with a sitter is a thing.

Maybe they should ask again with a $20 in hand, that worked for me

These two lil black kids (not that race has anything to do with it) that are friends with my sons were to stay over "a day or two" until the mom could find a replacement sitter. Two months later and she would pick them up at 6pm and had told them to wait outside around that hour so they could hop in and she could speed off before we could come out and say "HEY I'M NOT A DAMN BABYSITTER!! I DON'T WANT MONEY, I JUST WANT YOUR KIDS GONE!!" I had to stand outside for an hour in the cold so I could catch her on Monday and tell her if they come over again I'm calling child services for abandonment.

okokok. i think i'm with you. i understand that i cannot just (and i'm using your words here although i'm not one hundred percent on board with them) abandon the baby.... but would it be possible for me to possibly trade the baby to you for some other item? you know... so the record reflects a fair transaction. for both of our protections, of course. perhaps a pen? blue? ball-point? is that alright? would that be kosher? because i gotta be honest here... i'm really at a loss as to what i can and cannot do with this - with my - child. i see now that i cannot just give the baby away for free. but somewhere we do have to draw some lines, something down on paper - some boundaries between what is and is not acceptable in trade or as collateral for or in lieu of my one year old baby. now lay it on me, friend. tell me what i should do to make this happen. how can i get you to take this baby off my hands today ? because if you don't take this baby, honey, i am gonna drown the shiat out of it. and i don't think any of you want to be around when that goes down.

Unless she managed to get the phone under a false name, or the identity of someone else, it's only a matter of time before she ends up in prison.

Police turned the case over to the Department of Child Services, which took custody of the baby.

That baby just got the lucky break of its life.

that might entail a search of the premises and then some odd questions about grow lights/cameras/chains in closets/etc.

As a wee teenage nerdling, I occasionally babysat for a lady down the street. As it turned out, she was using the time to go drinking, heavily. The day she didn't come back and my family had to watch over her two kids in shifts for over 24 hours was the day my job ended.

I'd have called the cops the very next morning.

1) She didn't kill her child after period of not wanting it (good)
2) She didn't go through traditional legal abandonment means like give child up for adoption (bad)
3) Police are looking for her... and haven't found her yet? Even though they called her themselves? What, phone number registered to someone in Timbuktu? (fail)

Race has nothing to do with it, which is why you felt the need to mention their race twice. Classy.

ok, great. I get that "at least" this biatch left the child with someone somewhat responsible. But who the fark will take a CHILD from someone and not get a FULL name, emergency phone number, work number (if applicable), HOME ADDRESS, etc????? What the hell, babysitters just take in kids randomly now?

Sounds like it was like afterschool watch or something, not that they stayed with her for 2 months.
They would just come home with her kids after school and Mom would rush off around 6pm.

But the sitter told police the mother never gave her a full name, place of employment or emergency phone number.
...
When police called the mother, she told them to "Quit (expletive) calling my phone," and hung up, according to the report.
...
The mother had told the sitter she was a dancer at a strip club but when police went to the club there the employees told them they had no one named, "Jen," -- the name the mother had given to the sitter.

Um, what? So, the mother didn't give a phone#, but the sitter and cops were able to call her? And, she didn't give a place of employment, but the cops were able to go there? I don't get it...

Is this a thing now? I'm seeing it a lot lately. Are people doing it instead of writing "this"? I kept thinking that people hit quote and then accidentally hit "Add Comment" before writing anything, but I've seen this happen far too many times now for that.

I had a babysitting job in high school that ended when my parents got mad that I wasn't home by 1 a.m. on a school night. I told my dad the parents weren't back yet. He came and sent me home. When the parents got home at 6 the next morning they were mad that I hadn't stayed and that he was there. He not so kindly told them they were lucky he didn't call the cops and that I wouldn't be babysitting for them again.

mother didn't give an emergency phone number

mother told sitter she worked at the strip club (just because the name of the club isn't in TFA, she probably told her some strip club name)
