Why is Picard wearing a DS9-era uniform? It's not like he had to go back in time to tell them that Star Wars sucks.
Is it sad that I'm bothered by continuity errors in your meme?

Star Wars saved Star Trek.

winner: everyone

PS: Star Wars called their shields deflectors-and they don't shoot lasers: it's plasma bolts.

Someone said in a thread recently that the had plenty of chances to beam weapons and so on to other ships- but never used the transporter as a weapon. Now, in the TV show, this would make sense- everyone was a Prime Directive and were working for as non voilent solution as possible. In the movies? All that was thrown out of the window, shiat on and burnt.

This is the lamest farking discussion that could ever exist anywhere.

And the "parent's basement" thing is the lamest dig on sci-fi fans anyone could come up with. Sci-fi fans are the norm amongst people who don't watch American Idol and Wrestling. There are even girls here! Regular ones! Why don't you just call guys who smoke weed "beatniks", for Chrissakes.

As for the "science" between Star Trek and Star Wars, the science is bullshiat in both. Star Trek just likes to use big words in an attempt to lend it some credibility.

simplicimus: Star trek is about who we humans should be. Star wars is a fairy tale.

Are we dropping the nerd gloves? Transporter technology is more fantasy than anything in Star Wars including the force.

At lease Star Wars didn't have all the alien species speaking English with their only biological differences being different ridges on their face.

Star Wars was developed as a space western. Star Wars was a samurai story with a space backdrop. Both are fantasy and neither are science fiction. Star Trek added a bit of sci-fi after the original series. Star Wars (except for the cloning angle) has virtually no science fiction whatsoever other than gimmicks.

Watching DS-9 since I avoided it when it was actually on the air... and there was a fantastic lil episode where they went back to the Original Series world of Star Trek, and had Worf up against the original Klingons. It was one of those 'yes we know it's retarded, we aren't going to fix it, now lighten up' moments.

I was amused.

No, it was that god like aliens created all the other aliens thus explaining how the could mate with only minimal outside interference. The languages thing is because Americans cant read good.

Ah yes. The common genetic ancestor episode which would explain different types of internal organs, skeleton, blood composition and psychic abilities but limit facial variances to either bumps and or ridges or intensity of camel toe. Knight Rider was more plausible.

/I like both Star Trek and Star Wars.

I enjoy both and hold no grudges either way. Like both original incarnations better than the newer stuff. (Clone wars is pretty awesome as was the J.J. Abrams reboot, though).

Can't I just enjoy both without choosing sides?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. And it's the uniform from First Contact, which means that they should be on the bridge of the Enterprise-E rather than D, which is what the first image shows.

Main difference in SW and ST? The Empire(which is basically the equivialent of the Federation in ST) is EVIL in SW whereas it is good in ST.

Since power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely I picture any such organization ending up Evil like the Empire, even if it starts out good.

So SW is probably more accurate.

sonofabiatch i hate it when star trek threads happen whilst i'm at work, half the pics are blocked.

DarnoKonrad: If you had no choice, who would your rather fark: Neelix or Jar Jar Binks?

Probably Jar Jar; i figure he's much more moist than Neelix, even after Neelix obtained regular access to water.

I think what's important to remember is that Star Trek is supposed to be our future. So these characters are aware of Star Wars - it's in their film history. They would have watched them. So naturally, when they designed their fleets of ships, they would have done so knowing the flaws and strengths of the Star Wars ships.

Ergo, by pure logic, Star Trek must be superior to Star Wars.

If Lucas hadn't made the prequels, Star Wars and the Expanded Universe could have held its own against Star Trek in gravitas and quality. But by introducing a shockingly retarded Jedi Order, a witless Obi Wan Kenobi, an unreasonably psychotic Anakin Skywalker who should never have made friends with anyone, a bizarrely myopic Galactic Republic, and a 12th dimensional chess playing emperor with plots so convoluted, they make no logical sense, the Star Wars universe is officially no deeper than the plot of a coloring book.

Data would have figured it all out just be looking at a computer screen with rapidly changing images of the Galactic Times newspaper. Counselor Troi would have sensed everyone was crazy. Worf would have seen the dishonor in fighting with a clone army. Dr. Crusher would have developed nannites to kill off Anakin's midichlorians. Geordi and Wesley would've hacked into the droid armies and shut 'em off. Commander Riker would've beamed aboard the Death Star and sabotaged everything ala Borg Cube.

And of course, Captain Picard being the only educated man with historical insight AND the balls to defy authority, would've probably seized power from the emperor just by giving an awesome speech in the Senate about the abuse of state power.

And as soon as Darth Maul would've sneaked in to Picard's chambers at night to bump him off, the entire Enterprise bridge crew along with their weekly Klingon liason would have burst in and and phasered the guy to death.

Star Trek FTW

Star Trek aliens are simple makeup jobs primarily because of budgetary concerns. However, even so, I think Star Trek has had some great examples of non-humanoid or muppet-esque aliens, especially considering how limited their budget was.

Oh god
If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, I think that I blocked those entire episodes out of my memory.

Which reminds me, did any series ever revisit the flying saucer aliens that abducted people in an episode of TNG?

SmitetheRighteous: If Lucas hadn't made the prequels, Star Wars and the Expanded Universe could have held its own against Star Trek in gravitas and quality. Every single one of those could have been used as amazing plot points and character traits that would make the characters seem really well-written and realistic.
Every single one.

Lucas was not capable of such a feat and we ended up with total crap.
