I've had the same problems with anesthetics not working and waking up during surgery but I don't have red hair. Just lucky I guess!

Never been treated as a freak from birth (although it did distract from any perception I was gay when I was in HS). But as a ginger - I completely sympathize. I've avoided being touched because skin is very sensitive. I've avoid dentists and only caved to have some work done last year. I can't imagine the pain I felt just to have a tooth filled is a normal accordance for most people. And I react differently to drugs than most people I know - especially my boyfriend.

Meh, perhaps they are hypersensitive primadonnas - but in my experience they're worth the effort.

Well, the one I had, she had to be properly trained. But once she was doing it like I wanted her to the frequency and duration was like no other. She did have quite the gag reflex too, but that went away after many hours of work. I still miss her, but my wife probably wouldn't approve of another hook up with her.

I concur with a large chunk of what this article stated.

- I abhor the dentist and have been sent home after 5 shots of anesthetic. If they gave me another one, I would have reached "toxic levels"

- Vicodin knocks me straight out, but does nothing for pain

- Tylenol doesn't work, except in high doeses

- I have no soul

When I got my wisdom teeth out, I was prescribed more than enough painkillers to kill a large elephant. I was also put out with gas AND an injections.

I think I might be one of the outlier redheads that react normally to all that, though. I could not have remained standing if I was popping those pills at the pace the doc told me to.

I had that happen once and it is soooo farking strange. I was born a ginger. Had flaming red hair. It broke my mother's heart that it darkened into a red/brown as I got older. Then, at a very young age (17) my hair started going gray. I was pretty much completely silver haired by 35. I'm wondering... Hell, maybe I'm evem more of a mutant than a true ginger.
