I believe that was his defense when his voicemails with his daughter were leaked. I'm 100% sure he doesn't have anger control issues. Really.

the passenger was removed from the flight and denied boarding.

If he was denied boarding, why would they have to remove him?

If you gave an order, and your orders are always followed, then why would private Santiago be in any danger?

Monopoly is a game.

Acting like a colossal douche on an airplane is not.

A few other thoughts on the matter:
From the guy sitting next to him: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/08/lawrence-odonnell-alec-baldwi n-plane-polite-to-a-fault_n_1136325.html

And from the man himself: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alec-baldwin/american-airlines-service-_ b_1135201.html

Anger issues or no, I can't imagine anyone in their right mind (or on Fark for that matter) defending an airlines policies or service record.

Airline and airport rules, restrictions and regulations are getting more and more nonsensical, intrusive and arbitrary.

If we are going to restore sanity and common sense to air travel it is an entitled celebrity who will lead the way.

DIdn't witnesses say he didn't slam the laboratory door at all? My impression is the flight attendants were pulling shiat from their ass.

He also shut down his twitter feed.

Dozens upon dozens of people have been inconsolable.

Baldwin, while one of my favorite comic actors and the GREATEST host SNL has ever seen, very obviously has a HUGE sense of entitlement. Much like the rest of America.

From your own link: The MSNBC host said that he was seated next to Baldwin on a Friday flight from New York to Los Angeles...

Baldwin was kicked off an American Americans flight on Tuesday...

Yup, totally relevant. I'm sure he acted exactly the same on two different occasions...

O'Donnell said "I can tell you, that I have never, never seen a more polite person on an airplane than Alec Baldwin." O'Donnell added he was "embarrassed" by Baldwin's politeness.

Never? That seems like an insane thing to say.

Just turn off the phone for 10 minutes, Alec.

You want to know what it takes to play word games on a smart phone on a plane after the door has closed and the seat belt light is on? It takes BRASS BALLS to play word games on a smart phone on a flight after the door has closed and the seat belt light is on.

WayToBlue: Ahh yes, the old "cell phone is going to take down the plane" shtick.

If you can't give up your precious distraction for 10-15 mins, then you have problems.

I'm not saying the rule is right, but you are a child if you hold up an airplane full of people because you have a disagreement about a rule. Not only that, you are causing a chain reaction of delays.

Man up, put away your damn toy, get to your destination, and fight the "injustice" when you are on the damn ground. That was no place to "make a statement".

In this case, it's not just "the rules of that company," it's an FAA regulation.

Yet another reason to not ride the Sky-Bus.

So not only do you have to put up with the Freedom-Grope and long lines waiting to get on the damn Flying-Greyhound, and the sit here in this cramped hot-box with no water or air for hours and if you complain you will be arrested. Now you also have to endure the possibility that some damn Sky-Waitress will get all uppity and have me thrown off the flight I paid good American money for, and have the SS FAA fine me on top of that.

In conclusion I won't ever get on another Flying Train-To-Calcutta again until it is to leave this sinking ship of a country!

From that: The lesson I've learned is to keep my phone off when the 1950's gym teacher is on duty.

So why didn't you just do it in the first place? After all, you probably grew up in the 1950's. Even if she was being unreasonable, just shut your trap and put the phone away for a few minutes.

How did other passengers on the plane send tweets about the incident as it was going on, if everyone was following the rules except for Baldwin?

Is scrabble and scrabble-like games obscenely fun? Sure.

Does one fark around when the airline crew gives instructions? No.

Sometimes, an immovable object meets and unstoppable force.

I'm pretty sure that I've never heard a more accurate description of the modern flight attendant than a 1950s female gym teacher.

In spite of my self, given the last 10 years of flights I've taken, I'm much more likely to believe that the flight attendants were unreasonably overzealous in their enforcement of nonsensical regulations.

Alright, who here actually turns their phones/handhelds off before a flight? I push the little lock button and put it in my pocket until the plane is in the air. Never once caused a plane crash with my device being on in my pocket.

Saying that, Alec should've put his phone up when they told him too. You never win an argument with plane crews. And if you think you're going to win the argument, 9 times out of 10 you'll be winning that argument while watching the plane you should've been on fly away.

I pulled this from wisegeek:
Lots of debate has surrounded the use of cell phones on airplanes. The primary concern is that cell phones may interfere with the navigation and communication systems of the plane, potentially resulting in devastating failure. Numerous airlines have reported disruptions in cabin pressure, compass function, and wireless navigation systems associated with the use of cell phones on board. The FCC, it seems, erred on the side of caution when it enforced an outright ban on the use of radio frequency emitting devices which could potentially cause an aircraft to crash.

The rule did seem stupid but I changed my mind after I read that.

I'm sorry, but if my "LOL" text can take down an airplane, that says a hell of a lot about the current state of our planes.

I'd need to see some actual airline reports on phones and disrupting a flight.

/I will still put my phone up during take-off and landing because those are the rules and I wanna get where I'm going.

Wait, so they say that these devices can impact cabin pressure, but the restriction is only on take-off and landing? Wouldn't you care most about cabin pressure at altitude? I call BS.
