I once had this idea of freeze-dried clam chowder balls with a layer of ice cream on top. It wasn't a big seller.

Maybe I should've used New England instead of Manhattan.

One of the most popular drinks in Canada is a Bloody Ceasar which is basically clam juice, tomato juice and vodka. Amazing flavour. Can't buy it anywhere in the US that I've been though.

I always wanted to invent a giant grape shelled edible ball that was filled with wine. we'd call them wine balls. they would be grapefruit sized edible balls of wine. they'd be awesome

The snack industry has more heinous things to answer for:

The worst part is you'll eat one, say how bad it is, go back for a second. With each one, you complain less and less, until you've eaten a whole can and want to die.

Actually this is one of those 'food' items that you are not sure if it's going to be good or bad but you can probably be safe assuming it is going to be either really good or really bad.

You mean like Mott's Clamato Juice (pops) which claims to be invented in California in 1969?

Or are you referring to getting the actual cocktail in a bar in the US?

They never disappeared. I see them at all the local convenience stores and grocery store in these parts (central IL).

Although we tend to get a lot of weird products that you don't find in the rest of the country. We are considered a median demographic and companies like to use us as a test market. We had Red Boxes for years before they showed up elsewhere.

Having been in product development for a large snack firm for the last decade, I can give you a little inside information. Have you ever noticed that the size, shape, and texture of the Dorito chip itself never changes? And there's always that powdery substance coating the chip? It's always been the same, always will be. What begs the question - what changes when you bring out a new product? The packaging, for sure. The color of the chip, perhaps. And of course, the flavor. Not so fast there, Mr. Can't Eat Just One.

The only thing that we change is the packaging and the color of the chip, and the latter is only slightly modified because it costs money. Is this new dangled product supposed to be spicy? Bright red bag, bright red chip! Cool ranch? Dark blue bag, lighter colored chip. Etc, etc. What doesn't ever change is the flavor. Your brain takes care of that.

Seriously, try it for yourself - go to the store tonight and buy three or four different bags of Doritos. Close your eyes, and then have someone swap the bowls of chips around. Try one without having seen the color of the bag or chip. Cleanse with a bit sherbert. Try another chip. Any change? Again, again, again. Try until your heart is content, Neo. They all taste exactly the same.

The consumer responds to colored lights. If I tell you there are four lights, there are four lights. And believe me, on average, you don't have the time in your day to do anything about it. God, it makes me feel powerful saying that.

As soon as I saw the word Doritos it reminded me that I have a bag I didn't eat from earlier. I immediately opened it and began eating it, then I stopped and realized I'm not hungry. I'm a farking commercially programmed robot. I wonder how many times I do this without even realizing it?

I'm confused. You're talking about either a chelada, or a bloody Mary, depending on region (yes, cheladas are usually beer).

But...you haven't ever seen either?

No it's a bloody Caesar. Clamato vodak. And Worcester and tobasco. Rim with lemon pepper and stir with a pickled asparagus spear

The Caesar is similar to a bloody mary but has a lot more spice to it.

Commonly used ingredients

6 oz. Clamato Juice
1-1½ oz. Vodka
2 Dashes hot sauce
4 Dashes Worcestershire sauce
Celery salt
Freshly ground pepper
Lime wedge
1 Crisp celery stalk

Preparation Rim glass first with Lime wedge and then with celery salt.

Outside of Canada (or places that get enough Canadians to make the drink known) most places have no idea what a Caesar is, or if they have a vague idea you end up with a crappy Caesar.

Bought a can of Jalapeno flavored Pringles at a 99 cent store once, figued it was a flavor that didn't work out, so they were dumped on the discout stores. They were awesome, I turned into a jalapeno Pringle junky, scouring cheap discount stores in bad parts of town for those green cans of pure deliciousness. Then one day, there were no more to be had. It was that day I realized there was no god.

?????

I've been buying those at the Krogers in my neighborhood for the last two years.

I recently had a Pringles party for the students in my homeroom, though, and I bought about 12 containers of Pringles including jalapeno, loaded baked potato, cheddar, pizza, dill pickle, and a whole bunch of other flavors. The kids liked it.

I learned that a) all Pringles basically taste the same and b) I'm a little sick of Pringles.

I'll probably buy some more jalapeno and dill pickle flavored ones every now and then, though.

Sorry you don't have access to the jalapeno ones anymore. They are probably the best.

It must be regional, probably targeted at areas with a large Latino poulation. I see you are in Ohio, that flagship of fine Mexican food, I am in Southern California, not too many Latinos around here......

The package says something like "The Crotch Attack Is Back!" Look up "denki anma" for context. So weird.

One time I found a can of wonton-flavored Pringles in a discount store. They were surprisingly tasty. I never found the flavor again.

Japanese snacks don't always go away forever and ever, but they sure seem to be fond of switching them out according to season. Calbee had some kickass potato chip flavors, like wasabi-mayo and toasty sesame.
