Cool...liters don't get to make the first post very often.

It does look like a Jenga game. Terrorists will be trying to knock them down one piece at a time.

/jenga!

Meh. Looks like a prison. Probably the cheapest design they could come up with, then added pushouts to pretend they were making a statement.

/The statement is "We're cheap and people in Seattle are gullible."

Exactly, It is definitely a future James Howard Kunstler "Eyesore of the Month" winner.

Perfect for the rubes in Seattle though.

Is this the thread where we biatch about things we don't like? If so, I freaking hate Swamp People, Swamp Loggers, and all of the other Ice Road Swamp Logging Hogging Bogging reality shows that are currently on the History Channel and A&E. Except Storage Wars, I like that.

/there
//my post will accomplish as much as all the other biatching and commentary that will follow

Holy shiat that is an ugly building. Who designed it, the Caldari?

/much prefer Amarr architecture

What amazes me is that developers and architects never realize that, in 10 years, this will just look dated.

I just hope Gordon can get to the top of that thing and knock the portal generator out before any more Combine troops transport in.

What is the designer's motto? I vote for "Resistance is Futile"

News Flash !!! Architect builds monument to himself, ignores functionality !!

It looks like the Bailey Island Bridge (new window) still holds the record.

That building screams: Resistance is futile.

I came here for this... leaving satisfied.

I wondered about this. IOW, did the architect really rotate the sections relative to each other, with complete structural underpinnings, or just hang flashy pushouts on the fascia?

csb time: My high school math teacher designed and built his house similar to this in the mid '60s. It's a split level with the upper level rotated relative to the lower level, but he went beyond this. None of the major rooms have four 90-degree corners...the living room has 7 wall facets of different lengths and corner angles, etc., and there are a number of classic mathematical puzzles designed into the house. He used to give his geometry class a tour every year, and the tour I went on was a big motivator for me to stick with math at university. /csb

Meh. Looks like a prison

My exact reaction. Non-Seattleites should realize that it's on the edge of the predominantly brick Pioneer Square neighborhood and near the 1890s Smith Tower and King Street railroad station. But it sits on the northern edge of the Centurylink (Seahawks) parking lot.

/Can't imagine living there on a football/soccer/baseball game day.

For some unexplainable reason, it reminds me of that pyramid thingie in front of the Musée du Louvre (The Louvre, Paris)

/Maybe the common denominator is 'tacky'

My brother made a 3-foot-high Jenga set out of 2x3's. Makes a hell of a racket when it comes down.

Wallstreet already did it subby.

Wow, I just can't wait to see so many more comments about how this building is terrible and ugly and dated. I'm sure you all could think of so many ways to make it better. It's not like years of planning go into the architectural process, even before the building has begun to be built. Nope, some dude just draws a scribble on his napkin and tells a bunch of construction workers to go make it for him. And God forbid it try to stand out from other buildings. Nope, every single thing in existence should either look like the Seagram Building, the Administration Building of the World Columbia Exposition, or the Chrysler Building.

/I am angry about people on the Internet.
